Layout 1

The Details: A couple of years ago, Septicflesh returned to the states after a very long absence with their “Conquerors Of The World” tour. The exciting Metal event brought along bands such as ExDeo, Melechesh and Inquisition. Now the time has come to do it once again and this time around they will be bringing along Fleshgod Apocalypse, Black Crown Initate, Animist and Necronomicon. Hour of Penance was originally scheduled to appear but they have since dropped off the tour. This is still going to be a crushing evening of notes and I am pleased to announce that thanks to the folks at LiveNation that PiercingMetal will be putting some of our readers into the show for free. Read more on how to participate below.

When and Where: Tuesday, June 24th @ Gramercy Theatre (123 East 21st Street)

To Participate: Let’s assume this kind of package is going to happen again on a semi-yearly basis. What I want from readers is their own “Conquerors Of The World” Tour that would of course feature Septicflesh as the headliner. Give me four bands that fit the premise of the tour and ones that have never been on this package before (no unsigned bands please). I’d then like to know why you think this package works out best for the Metal fans of the realm. I will be selecting some of the entries that I like the most and replying to them directly. Be sure to enter your full real name and a working email address in the comment form as we shall need that for the list. It also never hurts to subscribe to the comments for the duration of the contest and since all comments are moderated, please only enter once as repeat entries will be deleted. Go get ‘em.

Restrictions: All of the PiercingMetal contests are open to our loyal readers, Facebook Page likers and Twitter Followers but that being said we are still looking for the new names first so EVERYONE gets the chance to enjoy a show on the provider and us. Since we never let on how many we have its always smart to send a submission just in case there is the room. We do keep track of the winner list but please be aware that if you had won something over the last month or so of contests your chances are less likely for this one. Please note that “Guest” and “Anonymous” submissions are not eligible either.

  1. For me simple Nile, rotting christ, septicflesh and samael this will be a conquerors of the world for me.

  2. Ensiferum, Stormwarrior, Kalmah and Skiltron, you got a good mix of bands that you don’t normally get to see in the sates. You got your Folk,Viking, Power, Speed and Melodic Death Metal from those 4 bands. I am still waiting for Kalmah to finally tour the U.S. in real life.

    1. Good stuff Joseph, you will have a ticket for the “Conquerors Of The World” show at Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday night. Please stay tuned to the comments for the full details on how you claim it that night.

  3. What I would love to see in the next iteration of this Conquerors of the World tour would be the following:

    SepticFlesh (duh)
Nifelheim – They REALLY need to tour the US, and an underground tour like this might be the best way for them to finally do it
Azarath – While SepticFlesh brings the “evil” Black Metal, Azarath would bring the Brutal Ridiculous Black Metal
Ne Obliviscaris – We need a little melody with our Death Metal, so these Aussies would surely fit!

I think this would continue the tour’s past theme of mixing Black and Death metal, with somewhat established bands, yet none of them are house-hold names really. I would see this tour in multiple cities!

    1. Good stuff Peter, and definitely some bands that not enough fans have background in. You will have a ticket for the “Conquerors Of The World” show at Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday night. Please stay tuned to the comments for the full details on how you claim it that night.

  4. My number one choice would be Hypocrisy, (if you don’t know who Hypocrisy is shame on you) they are a Swedish death metal band, probably one of my top 5. I believe the last time they toured was in 2010. So this would be a show many people would be looking forward too.
Well although this band has toured pretty often recently, I love to see them every time they come around, Carcass from Liverpool, England. I mean come on Hypocrisy, Carcass and Septic Flesh :O
I personally am not into this band, but typically there is always that one band that pleases the masses that I’m not into so I would say because we are choosing bands from around the world the Taiwanese band Chthonic. Like I said not really my taste but I know plenty of kids who would love them on the bill.
And lastly Behemoth from Poland. Although this line up has some huge bands I think it would be great to see and it would definitely make a great Conquerors of the World tour!

    1. Well, while you went with some powerful choices they were solid so you will have a ticket for the “Conquerors Of The World” show at Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday night. Please stay tuned to the comments for the full details on how you claim it that night.

  5. Bands that would best fit the Conquerors of the World tour would be:

Xanthochroid- They need to start touring across the U.S. not only the west coast.
Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir- I’m sure these two bands would be a fantastic duo on this tour.
Ne Obliviscaris- They deserve a tour across the U.S. not only around Asia and Australia.

What all these bands have in common are the symphonic elements they share.

    1. Another one with some seriously heavy hitting talent. Oh well, I cannot fault that so you will have a ticket for the “Conquerors Of The World” show at Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday night. Please stay tuned to the comments for the full details on how you claim it that night.

  6. Paradise Lost – I would much prefer to see them headline, but I’ll take any Paradise Lost I can get. Extremely underrated in the sense that they have 13 albums with most of them being outstanding quality. Even their weaker albums are quite solid.

Witchery – Long overdue for a return to the US. The thing that probably hinders them from playing as often as I’d like is a 3 of the members play in bands (The Haunted, Arch Enemy, Opeth) that definitely draw more people. If they can all coordinate their time to give Witchery attention, I’m sure they will deliver.

Monstrosity – There’s a reason Cannibal Corpse got George Fisher from this band. All their albums are great. My only complaint is it’s been 7 years since their last album Spiritual Apocalypse, and I want to hear some new material.

Bölzer – Probably the best 2 piece band right now. Anyone who saw them at MDF this year knows they killed it. They’re coming out with an EP Soma, later this year that’s sure to crush.

    1. Wow some names that are going to send me to some Google searches to see what they are all about and with that said, you will have a ticket for the “Conquerors Of The World” show at Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday night. Please stay tuned to the comments for the full details on how you claim it that night.

  7. Xanthochroid- One of my favorite bands and a band that completely changed my writing style. The symphonic aspect with all of the keys would fit perfectly with Septicflesh. And mainly because they need to starting touring.

Ne Obliviscaris- The kinda fit in with Xantho and would be amazing to see them tour together especially with a fitting name like Septicflesh. and they need to finally come to America

Carach Angren- Also very symphonic but extremely dark and heavy and would be a great fit

Bloodshot Dawn- This band needs to tour. deserve it so much. With their technical/symphonic ability it would be very fitting with Septicflesh.

    1. Kyle you are naming even more bands that I have no damned idea about so this would obviously be the Underground Metal event to end all Underground Metal events. Thanks and that being said you will have a ticket for the “Conquerors Of The World” show at Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday night. Please stay tuned to the comments for the full details on how you claim it that night.

  8. I would think that the “Conquerors of the World” tour would feature those that are not only from various parts of the world, but have made their presence known on an international level, in typical conqueror form. With that being said, bands that would fit this tour and its overall message would include:

SepticFlesh (duh): Having their body of work cover two decades, Greece’s SepticFlesh made themselves known with their brand of death metal that dabbled with melodic and symphonic influences, garnering critical acclaim to this day.

Ne Obliviscaris: These Australian newcomers blew into the scene with their incredible and critically acclaimed debut album “Portal of I,” attracting international attention from all types of metal fans and fans of music in general with their unique take on death, black and progressive metal with classical influences.

Agalloch (we gotta have a US band in here, come on): Originating from Portland, Oregon, these black metallers take critics and fans on dreary and grim journeys with each album they release, which combine black, death and post metal and folk influences. With well-revered album upon well-revered album, Agalloch have remained a staple in what it is to do right in metal.

Triptykon: A veteran to the scene, Thomas Gabriel Fischer left legendary metal band Switzerland Celtic Frost to pursue his own musical endeavors. In doing so, he started Triptykon, a spiritual successor if you will to Celtic Frost. Combining elements of doom, death and black metal, Triptykon’s two albums, 2010’s Eparistera Daimones and 2014’s Melana Chasmata have attracted critical acclaim from critics and fans alike, cementing Fischer, as well as Triptykon, as a force to be reckoned with in the extreme metal scene.

    And last but not least…

Katatonia: A Swedish band whose extensive career goes beyond two decades, this “gloomy” band has won critics and fans over with their combination of sludgy doom metal with gothic metal overtones. With nary a misstep in the band’s nine album discography, Katatonia remain a favorite with fans of all kinds of metals, even receiving the acclaim from famed progressive death metal band Opeth’s front man Mikael Åkerfeldt. That must say a lot about them to receive that!

Overall, this Conquerors of the World tour features a variety of bands not limited to one particular genre, ranging from death to black to doom and even gothic metal with Katatonia. What matters in this lineup is that these bands have garnered acclaim at being some of the best at what they do and gathering positive attention from metal fans from all areas of the world. And by that, they are indeed, “Conquerors of the World.”

    1. Well done Samuel, you went big for the most part on this one but you plead a good case. Congrats because you will have a ticket for the “Conquerors Of The World” show at Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday night. Please stay tuned to the comments for the full details on how you claim it that night.

  9. Belphagor – would have to be the first to come to mind. they barely tour the states. they would fit like bread on butter with this caliber tour. the intensity they bring is like none other.

Ne Obliviscaris – would be a great middle band, solely because of the different type of metal they bring to the table. these Aussie boys have never seen the states. a tour like this would be a great cherry popper for them. plus the crowd response would be phenomenal.

Unleashed – now these guys were at Maryland death fest, (which i missed unfortunately) but they have yet to see a real tour offer. hailing from Sweden, these guys bring a death metal like none other since 1989 and have not got the recognition they deserve. id like to see the crowd response on a tour like this.

Amorphis – last, these Finnish bastards would be a great opener to the tour, not seeing U.S. soil since 2009, its been way to long since they embraced us with they’re unique type of metal. i believe they have been waiting for the right tour, and this would be it!

looking forward to the show, cheers!

    1. Oh man this is a good one but I bet the ticket would be pricy but nonetheless you will have a ticket for the “Conquerors Of The World” show at Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday night. Please stay tuned to the comments for the full details on how you claim it that night.

  10. 1st, “Be’lakor” would be a great fit. They bring this sweet essence to their style of metal, so melodic yet so powerful. They would go along great opening for Septic Flesh.

2nd, “Moonspell”. I would have them in direct support for the tour. They always have something I discover at every show, so unique in the way they present themselves on stage. I look forward to seeing them again very soon.

3rd, “Scar Symmetry”. Its only fair to get some Progressive death metal in here. Who else but Scar Symmetry can be a better fit? This band hasn’t seen many tours in America. I believe if they can have the chance, this type of tour would give them a great response from the crowd.

4th, “Sylosis”. These are sort of the underdogs of England. I first witnessed them in 2001 at Studio Webster Hall. Amazing guitar / drum work and even more, they bring a modern type of sound with them, a genre all in their own honestly.

I hope to get to see this show on Tuesday! The bands picked for this years tour are nothing short of amazing!

    1. Interesting options Sharon, so you will have a ticket for the “Conquerors Of The World” show at Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday night. Please stay tuned to the comments for the full details on how you claim it that night.

  11. Rotting Christ – The fact aren’t on this tour and haven’t even toured with Septicflesh yet in the states just dumbfounds me. They are quite possibly the 2 greek powerhouses of metal right now and RC didnt even tour here for their most recent full length yet. They need to come back soon.

Stormlord – Not as known as Fleshgod but just as majestic and powerful are these Italian blackened legends and their most recent full length Hesperia was absolute masterpiece. Going in more of folk symphonic black metal style this time it was just amazing to hear, ive been wanting them to tour the states since Mare Nostrum was released so I’d be very excited if they ever come here.

Eternal Tears of Sorrow – These Finns have been around forever but sadly they do not have distro of their cds in the US. Their latest Saivon Lapsi may have finally been given US distribution but I’m not sure but it was so good. I know a ton of people that drool at the thought of seeing them live in the states. Their gothic symphonic black would be perfect for Conquerers.

Shade Empire – After being silent for a few years, this Finnish blackened death outlet came back with a vengeance with Omega Arcane in 2013 and many webzines and people had this in their top 10 of 2013 and I sadly found it late but I was pleasantly surprised with how it sounded. It absolutely blew me away. They are almost the Finnish Dimmu Borgir.

If this Conquerors of the World tour ever happened I’d have to travel the country for it and I’d be pinching myself the whole time. Def a dream tour but it doesnt hurt to dream.

    1. I’ve heard a few of these names before and of course they bode more research but I agree with you on Rotting Christ, where have they been? Its been years. Anyway you will have a ticket for the “Conquerors Of The World” show at Gramercy Theatre on Tuesday night. Please stay tuned to the comments for the full details on how you claim it that night.

  12. Rotting Christ (Greece) this band has evolved from a death/grind core beginning into one of the most innovative black metal bands in existence incorporating elements of world music and atmosphere into their sound that would be a perfect fit with their kinsmen Septic Flesh. It’s no wonder that Euronomous in the early days wanted them for his own label as he saw the potential early on.

Nocturnal Mortem (Ukraine) a friend of mine turned me onto this band and I’ve been addicted ever since. Having never been to the US As Far As I’m aware, They Have The Viking Getup And Their Music Incorporates Black And Thrash Riffing With Horn And String Sections and chanting Most Likely Reflecting The Music You Might Hear IN An Old Ukrainian village. There is also amazing keyboards/atmosphere and on their latest release tastefully used clean vocals as well adding to the mix. They would leave crowds on this tour in awe!

Shining (Sweden) while they might be the oddball on the package, I have been wanting for a long time to bring the so called pioneers of suicide black metal to the US. Niklas Kvar forth ‘ s musical compositions become more amazing with each release and push musical boundaries further and further. Incorporating not only metal, but hard rock, blues and jazz elements with their recent album even having a saxophone, it’s about time the US gets to witness this probably unforgettable live show!

Taake (Norway) having just played their first US show ever at this year’s Maryland Death Fest, this Norwegian titan is ready for a full tour playing in dark rooms instead of in daylight to capture the full mood of their incredible set. Hoest, has written some of the most amazing black metal compositions truly defining the mood of the genre as it was meant to be, both look (corpse paint, spikes etc) and sound (fast tremolo picking, minor chords, yet stopping to rock at mid tempo) and yet pushing boundaries for example Including a banjo solo, audiences will be s**ting themselves and begging for more!

So I guess that’s four. Hopefully it will comprise C.O.T.W. tour 2015. Hope you like, Ken!
