Win A Ticket To See Glenn Hughes @ B.B. King Blues Club on 8/10/2016

Poster - Glenn Hughes at BB King Blues Club - 2016

The Details: His name is a legendary one for sure with his work with the great Deep Purple, Black Country Communion and so much more that I would be writing for a few more sentences if I kept at it. Yes I am speaking about the great Glenn Hughes who is now on a solo tour with some talented musicians and bringing his historic career to life right before your very eyes. There are few like him and now he adds “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” inductee to his list of accomplishments. All of this makes me happy to announce that he and his band will be performing at the B.B. King Blues Club and thanks to venue some of the PiercingMetal readers are going to get to enjoy the show for free. Cool right? Read more below on how this works.

When and Where: Wednesday, August 10th at B.B. King Blues Club 7:30pm (237 West 42nd Street NYC)

To Participate: There are so many powerful releases from this musician and I want to be sure that the diehards get into this show thanks to the contest. That being said, how about you submit three works that speak to you the greatest from his storied career. You can name your three favorite albums and tell me a little about why each is a favorite or perhaps a few past concert recollections. You can add what we are all in store for if we attend here in NYC. Just make it a little interesting. Of course if you are the absolute newbie even still, just give me three reasons that you need to be a part of this musical happening. Make them solid to read more than just a plain old “because he rules man” because that is just too un-original and boring. I’ll be responding to the comments that I like most right below their answer. This is for a single ticket only and no plus one requests will be honored. Sorry. Hey if you win you can always help your friend pay for a ticket or buy them something to drink inside the venue.

– Enter only enter once. The comments are moderated and will not appear immediately after submission.
– Number them for ease of knowing if you followed the instructions or not if I’ve asked for a list.
– Please enter your full real name in the comment form along with an email address that you can be reached at if you win. This is necessary for listing purposes. Please do NOT put this information in the comment itself out of privacy concerns.
– Only enter if you can and will attend the show should you win and that it’s logistically possible for you to do so. Essentially if you live a couple of hundred miles away we don’t think you’re coming here for a show in NYC. Those fans should look for a closer to home event and contest.
– Subscribe to the comments and check back to see the responses so you know if you won or not.
– Make sure you are entering a NEW comment and not replying to another contestant’s entry as that makes notifying you difficult should you be marked as a winner.

Bring it on as this one will close by noon on day of show or when allotment has been depleted.

Restrictions: All of the PiercingMetal contests are open to our loyal readers, Facebook Page likers and Twitter Followers but that being said we are still looking for the new names first. Don’t let that stop you from entering of course but we do keep track based on the overall demand for this stuff at this point. We want EVERYONE to have a chance to enjoy a show on the provider and PiercingMetal but if you just won something you will likely not have a chance for this one. Please note that Anonymous or Guest comments will not be approved.

If You Win This Contest: If you are marked as one of the winners for this contest, here is how to claim the ticket. On the night of the show go to the venue podium and ask for the House Guest List. Please bring proper identification (driver’s license, passport, NYC ID card) and your name will be checked off that list for you to enter. If you encounter any difficulty, please politely ask for an onsite manager and cite how this contest was done in coordination with venue Marketing and PiercingMetal.com. You can also expect an email to the provided address reminding you of the win so make sure that @piercingmetal.com is listed as a safe domain to receive notes from.

    2. Bbc 1 great song the great divide classic rock and Glenn just so awesome as always
    3. I know I go back again but his greatest tones on the Gypsy on Stormbringer just out of this world .. I can’t believe this is Blackmores least fave . This is a melody masterpiece \m/

Very hard to make a list because all of them are just awesome \m/

    1. That works for me for sure Diego, so you are going to the show on Wednesday night. Please refer to the part of the post marked “If You Win This Contest” for all the details. Have fun.

  2. 3 Glenn Hughes albums that mean the most to me:

1.) Deep Purple-Burn. My favorite era of Purple is EASILY Mark III. The combo of Coverdale & Hughes took the band to uncharted territories. Hughes’ funkiness and soulful vocals make this a top album on ANY list!

2.) Hughes/Thrall-S/T. Combined with the guitar god that is Pat Thrall, this record found Hughes again exploring territories that hadn’t been really explored yet. The 80’s Pop of that era mixed with a Hard Rock interior made this a great album that fans like me are STILL hoping that these two can make another album, 30+ years later.

3.) Glenn Hughes-Addiction. Another golden throated album that also features the great Marc Bonilla on guitar. Soulful, funky and filled with great songs, Addiction is an overlooked gem. The song, “Blue Jade”, with is smokey lounge vibe to it, is reason enough to own this awesome record.

5 decades later and Hughes is STILL teaching kids how to actually SING. Anyone that Stevie Wonder dubs as “The Voice of Rock” deserves everything that is coming his way!

    1. Hails Butch and for sure you are going to see The Voice of Rock on Wednesday at B.B. Kings. Please refer to the part of the contest labeled “If You Win This Contest” for the details on how to claim.

  3. 1. Highway Star gives me the chills. One of my all-time favorite songs. Love the re-Machined tribute to Deep Purple released in 2012 with Steve Vai who I saw with Yngwei at the pre-pary of the Axes and Anchors cruise!

    2. Sail Away, from Burn is the 8th studio album from Deep Purple from 1974 is another favorite of mine. I can’t believe this came out when I was only 6, because I swear I remember it. David Coverdale debuts. I just saw Whitesnake at The Wellmont in Montclair NJ a few months ago and Coverdale is still awesome.

    3. Hughes work on Seventh Star with Tony Iommi was amazing. SS was a Black Sabbath album, but was intended to be an Iommi solo album. I met Iommi on the Axes and Anchors cruise earlier this year and got his signature on a Strat pickboard my brother gave me for that purpose. This album is more bluesy than previous Sabbath, with the inclusion of keyboards as well. Seventh Star is my favorite song on that album, mostly because of Hughes voice.

His most recent music is rock and roll but blues-influenced, soulful, with a bit of funk. His beautiful 6-octave voice captivates me. Listen to his acoustic performance of “All Falls Down” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBQmA0ogWqo
    You’ll see what I mean.

It’s his 1st American tour! He plays big places overseas… but here at BB Kings, it’s sure to be a special night! I don’t want to miss this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, the “Voice of Rock.” He has performed or toured with nearly every rock and roll artist I know and love back to 1970. He’s a part of the Who’s-Who of Rock ‘n’ Roll Royalty, going all the way back to the early years of the British Invasion.

And this show presents a power trio! Hughes, with drummer Pontus Engborg and guitarist Soren Andersen who was inspired by such greats as Gary Moore, Angus Young, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen and Richie Blackmore. Hughes plans to play music from throughout his career, including tracks by Trapeze, Deep Purple, Hughes/Thrall and Black Country Communion. It’s really a must see and I appreciate this opportunity from Piercing Metal to get a ticket to the show at an awesome small venue… BB Kings!

    1. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Wow Karen that was a response of responses and that means you are going to see Glenn Hughes on Wednesday night. Please refer to the part of the post marked “If You Win This Contest”.

  4. 1. I am the bassist in the Blackmore tribute Mistreated. we open with Burn. Got to see if I am playing it correctly.
    2. unfortunately I was an active alcoholic when he was in NYC WITH Black Sabbath so I don’t remember some of the show so I would like to make it up.
    3. want to compare his Burn with Whitesnake’s.

    1. Wow Tom that is some information for sure so let’s get you into the show and see just have wrong or right you’ve been on the bass 🙂 Please see the part of the contest marked “If I win this contest” for all details.

  5. Alright my friend’s it’s time close this contest up. No more submissions will be honored and congratulations to our winners who have all been notified under their entry. Remember to refer to the “If You Win This Contest ” section for the full details on how you claim this prize.
