Win A Ticket For Metal Church @ B.B. King Blues Club On 3/28/2016

Poster - Metal Church at BB Kings - 2016

The Details: There are few bands that deliver the classic sound quite like Metal Church and it’s great to find them still bringing their brand of preaching to the masses at show after show. Though more of a fan from the sidelines over the years I have always enjoyed their material and live presentations and am very excited about their upcoming album “XI” which will come care of Rat Pak Records. Joining into the lineup for the tour will be guitarist Chris Caffery (Savatage/Trans-Siberian Orchestra) joining in with the great Kurt Vanderhoof and his TSO colleague Jeff Plate. Opening up on the shows is those upstarts of modern Thrash in Hatchet. All of this makes me happy to announce that the band will once again be returning to the stage of the B.B. King Blues Club and thanks to venue some of the PiercingMetal readers are going to get to enjoy the show for free. Cool right? Read more below on how this works.

When and Where: Monday, March 28th at B.B. King Blues Club 7:30pm (237 West 42nd Street NYC)

To Participate: There are so many powerful releases from Metal Church and I want to be sure that the diehards get into this show thanks to the contest. That being said, how about you submit three reasons to be selected for this show. You can name your three favorite albums and tell me a little about why each is a favorite or perhaps a few past concert recollections. If you’ve seen them do their thing together before then maybe let us know what we are all in store for here in NYC. Just make it a little interesting. Of course if you are the absolute newbie even still, just give me three reasons that you need to be a part of this musical happening. Make them solid to read more than just a plain old “because they rock man” because that is just too un-original and boring. I’ll be responding to the comments that I like most right below their answer. This is for a single ticket only and no plus one requests will be honored. Sorry.

– Enter only enter once. The comments are moderated and will not appear immediately after submission.
– Number them for ease of knowing if you followed the instructions or not if I’ve asked for a list.
– Please enter your full real name in the comment form along with an email address that you can be reached at if you win. This is necessary for listing purposes. Please do NOT put this information in the comment itself out of privacy concerns.
– Only enter if you can and will attend the show should you win and it’s logistically possible for you to do so. Essentially if you live a couple of hundred miles away we don’t think you’re coming here for a show in NYC.
– Subscribe to the comments and check back to see the responses so you know if you won or not.
– Make sure you are entering a NEW comment and not replying to another contestant’s entry as that makes notifying you difficult should you be marked as a winner.

Bring it on as this one will close by noon on day of show or when allotment has been depleted.

Restrictions: All of the PiercingMetal contests are open to our loyal readers, Facebook Page likers and Twitter Followers but that being said we are still looking for the new names first. Don’t let that stop you from entering of course but we do keep track based on the overall demand for this stuff at this point. We want EVERYONE to have a chance to enjoy a show on the provider and PiercingMetal but if you just won you will likely not have a chance for this one. Please note that Anonymous or Guest comments will not be approved.
If You Win This Contest: If you are marked as one of the winners for this contest, here is how to claim the ticket. On the night of the show go to the venue podium and ask for the House Guest List. Please bring proper identification (driver’s license, passport, NYC ID card) and your name will be checked off that list for you to enter. If you encounter any difficulty, please politely ask for an onsite manager and cite how this contest was done in coordination with venue Marketing and PiercingMetal.com. You can also expect an email to the provided address reminding you of the win so make sure that @piercingmetal.com is listed as a safe domain to receive notes from.

  1. Metal Church are one of those bands who never quite reached the heights of some of the others from their hey day but to me they are one of the finest bands to ever hit the scene. Difficult to pin point exactly where the sound of the band lays I always considered them to walk the razors edge of power metal and thrash metal. They have many classic albums, have had three great singers and have all along never lost who they were and are still forging onward strong today. Here are my three reasons that I need to see this show…

    1. Mike Howe is BACK! Those are words I never thought I’d say. Blessing in Disguise was my first album by these guys so Howe made his mark on me before David Wayne (RIP) was able to. There was just something about that album and those songs that struck me and made a long lasting impact and Mikes voice had a lot to do with that as he is in a league of his own. When I first became a fan the consensus among other fans is that Howe would never be back in the fold. I manifested this idea in my thoughts for a long long time and boom here he is. Proud to say I will leave work this Friday afternoon and purchase a brand new Metal Church album with Mike Howe on vocals.

    2. Blessing in Disguise and the Human Factor are my two favorite Metal Church albums. While many fans prefer the self titled debut and the Dark (both of which are excellent) it is the next two with Howe that do it for me. The band hasn’t played much Howe material over the years. They brought back “Fake Healer” a few years ago and more recently before the Howe reunion “Badlands” which is my favorite Metal Church song and I’ve never seen it live. Now it’s sage to say I will get at least those two plus more from those two albums making this extra special.

    3. CHRIS CAFFREY! This is a once in a lifetime deal to see Chris filling in with the band. Savatage just happens to be my number 2 favorite band ever only behind Iron Maiden so Chris playing on some material that I absolutely love will make this night extra special for me.

    1. Wow Kevin, clearly you are someone that enjoys the band Metal Church and with that I am going to say congratulations on winning a ticket for the show on Monday. Please check the “If I Win This Contest” part of my post for all of the necessary details. This show is going to rock.

      1. Wait so you NEVER saw them before? That sounds like something that PiercingMetal needs to fix so congratulations on winning a ticket for the show on Monday. Please check the “If I Win This Contest” part of my post for all of the necessary details. Don’t miss the exciting opener Hatchet as well.

  2. 1. When I was eight, my dad took me to see Metal Church. For three days straight after the show, I was singing the high notes from “Watch the Children Pray”. I want to go back in time a decade and relive that!
    2. Metal Church absolutely killed it last time I saw them! I was privileged enough to interview Kurdt Vanderhoof and hear about the band’s project for the next album. I would love to see the progress they made live! Not only that, but I appreciate how he understands the human expression in all types of music- you can definitely see it in their music!
    3. The last time I saw Metal Church, I was pushed against the barricade so hard that I got the biggest bruise on my leg. If there is anything that says heavy metal, it’s that.

  3. Eight! Eight!!! Wow Miss Katherine you sure do have me beat on getting that rocking started but I guess times have changed since I first got into the Metal. Its so cool to see this kind of submission so let me say congratulations on winning a ticket for Monday’s Metal Church show at B.B. King’s. Please refer to the “If I Win This Contest” part of the post for all the necessary details you need to claim it at the show. This is going to rock so much.

  4. Wow, Metal Church is back!

    1. Last time I saw them, the vocalist was Ronnie Munroe, but now I have a chance to see them with their best vocalist Mike Howe. Blessing in Disguise must be my favorite Metal Church album and I surely hope they’ll play some songs off of it.

    2. Metal Church was supposed to play MDF, but they had to cancel because of line-up changes. It would be great to see them at the legendary BB Kings club.

    3. From what I heard, the new album sounds great. It would be a good opportunity to hear some fresh songs live and pick up the new album – which is being released today, March 25, 2016!!!

    Emil David

    1. I agree with all your points Emil, so let me say congratulations on winning a ticket for the show on Monday. Please check the “If I Win This Contest” part of my post for all of the necessary details. Let’s start that mosh pit 🙂

  5. Just loved the first album and the song Ton of Bricks, the last time I saw them was at the Continental Divide in NYC many years ago. If you could get me in I’d appreciate it, there cover of Deep Purple’s Highway Star is a fast adrenaline pumping toe tapper for sure, or should I say – fist banger!! On the first album, Beyond The Black seguewayed into Metal Church goes together like peanut butter and jelly, ha, ha! Great singing in God’s of Wrath too. Who is from the original band?, just the singer? Well, anyway, would love to go, cheers!

  6. 1. My friend showed me Metal Church not even a week ago and I am already dying over everything. I haven’t ever been to a real metal show and I think this would make a lasting impression on me if I saw Metal Church.
    2. After my friend showed me the first song (Watch the Children Pray), I was hooked for the whole day and even still! I need to see them live! They sound incredible! I know I’m a newbie, but I already feel like a die-hard.
    3. Other than the fact that their music is freaking sweet, they have a kick ass name too and represent the metal community very well.

    1. Hi Quinn, well, there is nothing wrong with being a newbie to a band at all and since you are enjoying them so much I will say congratulations on winning a ticket to the show on Monday night at B.B. King’s. Please refer to the section of the contest post marked “If You Win This Contest” for all of the necessary details. Soon you will rock!

  7. 1. I’m a noob to metal church but I’ve listened to quite a bit of their early discography to enjoy what they have done.
    2. Although Metal Church’s early music is regarded as being more thrash metal oriented, its evolved in my opinion to more and more resemble American power metal, being more in line with bands like Jagpanzer, and to some extent, Iced Earth than Testament and Overkill.
    3. I’ve had the great fortune to see many of the great thrash metal bands like Exodus, Testament, Overkill, Anthrax, Megadeth and so on but I have not seen Metal Church, who I have started to gain a deeper appreciation for over the last year

    1. Hmmmm. Another newbie. This cannot be but of course does indeed happen since so many awesome bands are out there to enjoy. That being said, congratulations Garren as you also have won a ticket to the show on Monday. Please refer to the section of the contest post marked “If You Win This Contest” for all of the necessary details. This is going to be a good one.

  8. Alright my Metal Legions, this contest is 100% officially closed so no more entries please. Thank you all for participating and congratulations to our winners who were each notified right below their entry submission. As noted, please refer to the part of the contest marked “If You Win This Contest” as the specific details for claiming your entry are there. The doors are at 6pm and the show begins at 7pm (there are two opening bands for this one). I shall be there rocking out as well so if you see me please feel free to say hello, but just make sure I’m not looking through the lens at the time 🙂
