Now this might be interesting for all of you Rock loving fans of the “robots in disguise” the one and only Transformers who now have an album of all original tunes done by what I am reading are some up and coming names in the Alternative Rock scene. There’s even a tune by Alt-Rock superpowers Bush thrown in for good measure but I had to admit that they were the only band that I recognized across the whole release. While I like the idea of these kinds of releases, I often find myself on the fence about whether or not to purchase it based on there being too many “new” bands on the album versus a healthy amount of things that I am aware of. Sure bands like Mount Holly, Mew and Ella Rae did some fine stuff here but with the prices of everything rising these days, unless you are already a fan of these musicians you might take a pass on the overall album which is kind of unfair since there is some good stuff here.

So given that this is “music inspired by Transformers”, I felt a little confused about that outside of the track that actually says “Roll Out” by Mount Holly. Perhaps we needed a song called “again you fail me Starscream” or “I Am Megatron” to firmly cement the mythology in our minds. I dunno. Overall this isn’t really for me since it’s not all that “heavy” when it comes down to it. Yeah I like some Alternative Rock but even that needs to be of the heavier offering at this point so more of a Disturbed, Korn vibe for my votes. This is an energetic album for sure and I am glad that Hasbro Studios has decided to offer up some different things for the fans of the franchise through Sony Music but I think at the end of the day the best way to experience this is on a legal streaming service first and then pick and choose the songs you like most for your purchase and your Cloud library. This is not at all a slight but more of a be aware of what you get here. As far as the Transformers themselves are concerned, we are likely going to see another film while their action figures keep on being released under the Hasbro Toys banner. We saw some cool stuff at this year’s Toy Fair and you can check out some of the heading your way soon stuff by clicking THIS LINK. That’s all I have to say about this one. If any of these bands ring a bell to you then by all means place your order care of the link below.
