Tonight: “iZombie” Season 2 Premiere (10/6/15)

Logo - iZombie

Did you watch “iZombie” when it premiered last season my dear comic book series loving readers or did you let it pass you by? I didn’t know what to expect as I was not a devout reader of the title even though some friends in the illustrious DC Comics company had given me several issues and some trade paperback editions of it and at the end of the day I found the show to be quite a bit of fun. The second season starts tonight and airs after “The Flash” so check out the poster, the premise and the cast and then we can talk about it a little more.

The Premise:
Seattle medical resident Olivia “Liv” Moore is turned into a zombie while attending a boat party. To cope with her new appetite for brains, Liv takes a job at the King County morgue and shares her secret with her boss, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti. In order for Liv to survive, Ravi encourages her to eat the brains of murder victims who are delivered to the morgue. Whenever she eats a victim’s brain, Liv inherits some of their personality traits temporarily. She also experiences flashbacks which often give her clues as to the nature of the murder. Liv uses this new ability to help the Seattle Police Department solve crimes, passing herself off as a psychic consultant.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So I mentioned that I had never read a single issue of DC Comics “iZombie” title and as result came into this show cold and only knowing that the principle character was a zombie. It was strange and quirky and at the same time pretty compelling and enough to find me tuning in each and every week to see how it work all work out for our hapless zombified heroine as she aimed to rid the city of the scourge which she herself was a part of. This is truly a lot more fun that the stuff we find going on in “The Walking Dead” and the largely ill-receieved “Fear The Walking Dead” which just ended its own first season this past Sunday night. I wonder if there is a rebate for the time I spent on that one. “Yawntastic” is my best review of that stuff so hopefully they will leave well enough alone with the current main show. Sorry, I lost track of myself here. Anyway, I am so wondering how our favorite zombie Liv is going to get past some of the trials that we found her facing in season one and I will once again be rallying behind this ghoulish gal for sure. In a different set of circumstances I could see myself befriending Miss Liv Moore (get the pun?). If you watched this show what did you think? If you didn’t I say get on Netflix or Hulu or whatever is showing it and let loose a little bit. The zombie apocalypse might be forthcoming but its surely much better with a little Sriracha. See you next time.
