Wow I cannot believe that we are hitting the fourth season of “Arrow” which is as you know the continuing adventures of the emerald archer Oliver Queen who most of us know as The Green Arrow. Of course in the show he is not called anything more than The Vigilante and The Arrow but check out the new season poster, the past happenings and cast thanks to the shows Wiki entry and then we can discuss this a little more.
The Premise and What You’ve Missed:
The series follows Oliver Queen, billionaire playboy of Starling City, who spends five years shipwrecked on a mysterious island. Upon his return to Starling City, he is reunited with his mother, Moira Queen, his sister, Thea Queen, and his friend, Tommy Merlyn. The first season focuses on Oliver rekindling his relationships and spending his nights hunting down and sometimes killing wealthy criminals as a hooded vigilante. He uncovers a conspiracy to destroy “The Glades”, a poorer section of the city that has become overridden with crime. John Diggle and Felicity Smoak assist Oliver in his crusade. Oliver also reconnects with ex-girlfriend, Laurel Lance, who is still angry over his role in her sister’s presumed death. The first season also features flashbacks to Oliver’s time on the island, and how it changed him; this continues in subsequent seasons. In season two, Oliver has vowed to stop crime without killing criminals, and comes under attack from Slade Wilson, a man from Oliver’s time on the island who resurfaces with a vendetta against him. Oliver must also contend with outside forces attempting to take over Queen Consolidated, guilt from decisions he made in the past, and secrets harbored by his family and friends.
Oliver grows to accept aspiring vigilante Roy Harper as his protégé, and begins to receive assistance from Laurel’s father, Officer Quentin Lance. Oliver also gains another ally; a mysterious woman in black, who is eventually revealed to be Laurel’s sister, Sara Lance, who had survived her ordeal at sea years prior. In season three, Arrow has become a public hero in Starling City following Slade Wilson’s defeat. Queen Consolidated is sold to wealthy businessman, scientist, and aspiring hero Ray Palmer. Oliver struggles to bring his family back together, an old enemy returns, and Oliver becomes embroiled in a conflict with Ra’s al Ghul. After a rocky start, Laurel sets out to follow in Sara’s footsteps as the Black Canary. John Diggle struggles with his new role as a family man, as Oliver no longer wants John in the field after the birth of his daughter, while Felicity Smoak begins a new career as Vice President of Palmer Technologies (formerly Queen Consolidated).

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I will not lie to you and say that I was 100% with “Arrow” as Season Three made its way towards conclusion. I was honestly getting a little tired of all the Ra’s Al Ghul and League Of Assassins stuff because it felt like the same stuff over and over. Yeah we had some cool character introductions and finally saw Katana coming into play while the new Black Canary dealt out the justice but as I had already said I was not too keen on the X-O Manowar/Iron Man seeming Atom or Brandon Rouths portrayal of his rendition and alter ego Ray Palmer. This was even harder to watch for me after the absolute thrill ride that Season One of “The Flash” was. It’s been said that we are getting Mr. Terrific in this season and he will be the same in some ways from the comic depiction and different in some other ways so let’s see how they make that work out. Also the costume is looking rather green and numerous sites are saying he will be using the moniker of Green Arrow going forward. I am good with that but just want a faster moving season with more DC Universe characters. Flash is winning out and only on its first full season and one episode of the second which aired last night. So tell me readers are you watching this show at all? If so what are you thinking of it so far.
