The 2017 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees Are:

Well the votes have been submitted and I am not speaking about the whole Electoral College ones and instead am here to reveal the 2017 inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Check them out below along with some quick notations.

The Class of 2017 Is:

Electric Light Orchestra: ELO has long been one of my favorite artists based on just how many songs I knew by them and could sing word for word thanks to the traditional Rock radio of the past. Congrats to Jeff and the rest of the group. Looking forward to seeing their performance on the broadcast.

Journey: I think I’ve been listening to Journey almost as long as I’ve been listening to KISS and that my friends is a very, very, very long time. Super stoked to see them inducted and while the jury is still out on whether or not Steve Perry will perform with them on the stage I hope we get Greg Rolie up there as well since he was a vital part of their earliest success.

Yes: A no-brainer here and one band that has been overlooked for the honor for far too long. I don’t think Progressive Rock would matter as much as it came to were it not for the classic melodies of the mighty Yes. I’m saddened that the late great Chris Squire will not be there to participate but perhaps he and the recently passed Greg Lake will be cheering on from the musical beyond.

Pearl Jam: As a fan since the beginnings of this band I loved seeing them included. Granted I’ve stopped following them a bit since that time but clearly remember racing to the record store to get the new album for at least three after the debut.

Joan Baez: I don’t think I ever listened to Joan’s stuff at all and can truly only name the song that Judas Priest covered many years ago. That said, she was super influential during her time so congrats on the induction.

Tupac Shakur: Hey good for you and the legendary stuff you did when you were with us Mr. Shakur. I’ve long applauded your talent but still don’t feel that the Rap stuff should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Not over other Rock bands that’s for sure. Commence yelling at me now fans of the long passed artist but think about how much you would want Slayer or Judas Priest getting a Rap honor.

In addition to these inductions, Nile Rodgers was given the award for Musical Excellence.

Other Nominees Were: Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, Chic, Depeche Mode, The J. Geils Band, Janes Addiction, Janet Jackson, MC5, Steppenwolf, The Cars and The Zombies. Do you feel slighted for the oversight of any of these talented groups and individuals? Did you take a moment and vote your choices when the time was open for fans to do so? If you didn’t then you only have yourself to blame. Personally speaking I am a little sad to see that The Cars didn’t make the cut. So many really good and regularly rotated on the radio songs. I didn’t really agree with J. Geils Band or Steppenwolf believe it or not. Good stuff but not really my preference over some of the other legends that are still waiting on the nod. Oh here is some important stuff about the upcoming ceremony.

“The 32nd Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, presented by Klipsch Audio, will take place on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York for the third time. Ticket on-sale dates will be announced in January. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2017 Induction Ceremony will again have its television premiere on HBO, and a radio broadcast on SiriusXM. Broadcast details will be announced in early 2017.”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Well, since I pretty much did this part of the post up in the above notations the task now falls to you readers to let me know what you think. Are you happy about the inductees or are you incensed about them? I’m happy to inform you all that four of the inductees were groups that I voted for in the public voting polls. I feel so very accomplished as having done my part in what was truly one of the more fun elections that we had the chance to participate in this year. We all know how dramatic the other one was on people and on that I will say no more since we are not a political website. Please use the comments down below to remind of of who you voted for in the Rock Hall nominations if you did that and what your thoughts are about the groups that ended up winning the big honor.
