The Press Copy:
As previously announced, the Epiphone Revolver Music Awards will take place on December 13 at Webster Hall in New York City. The Epiphone Revolver Music Awards isn’t solely about the performances—though we do have Megadeth, Zakk Wylde, Lacuna Coil (and more surprises in store). It’s here we are (and will be) honored to recognize your favorite artists for their accomplishments that make this music and scene so vital and viable. The awards show features fan favorite categories such as Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Dimebag Darrell Best Guitarist, Best Vocalist, and many more. Below is a list of the full nominees. So, make your voice heard and VOTE HERE! You can vote as much and as often as you would like.

Album of the Year, presented by eOne
Deftones, Gore
Megadeth, Dystopia
Meshuggah, The Violent Sleep of Reason
Metallica, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct
Volbeat, Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie

PiercingMetal Pick: I’m basing my decision on the three stellar tracks that have been unveiled by the mighty Metallica and give them the “Album Of The Year” choice from me. You can argue with me all you like on this one but these three numbers are so damned strong that its hard to believe that anything less will come from the full album. Let’s go Metallica!!!!

Song of the Year, presented by Century Media
Amon Amarth, “Raise Your Horns”
Ghost, “Square Hammer”
Megadeth, “The Threat Is Real”
Metallica, “Hardwired”
Testament, “Brotherhood of the Snake”

PiercingMetal Pick: Now despite my choice of Metallica for the best album, I am going Ghost for the “Song Of The Year” because from the moment that I heard “Square Hammer” I could not stop singing and humming it during the following weeks after just hearing it. I am so excited for the bands first ever gig in Brooklyn in the coming weeks and hope they win big with this one.

Best Vocalist, presented by Spinefarm
Amon Amarth, Johan Hegg
Deftones, Chino Moreno
Killswitch Engage, Jesse Leach
Lacuna Coil, Cristina Scabbia
Of Mice & Men, Austin Carlile

PiercingMetal Pick: I’ll go with the towering Death Metal giant that is Amon Amarth’s Johan Hegg since he just gives you all he has during shows and if I can say that I have a close second I want to say Jesse Leach from KSE. The man has been really pulling out all the stops during these last bunch of KSE shows and its to be commended.

Dimebag Darrell Best Guitarist(s), presented by Epiphone
Alter Bridge, Mark Tremonti
Opeth, Mikael Åkerfeldt and Fredrik Åkesson
Megadeth, Dave Mustaine and Kiko Loureiro
Metallica, James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett
Zakk Wylde

PiercingMetal Pick: It’s awesome to find more people paying attention to Alter Bridge and Mark Tremonti so let’s hope that he wins this award as “Best Guitarist”. Nothing against Kirk, Dave and Zakk of course but let’s have the new blood flowing and letting their own hard work pay off.

Paul Gray Best Bassist
Black Sabbath, Geezer Butler
Hellyeah, Kyle Sanders
Rob Zombie, Piggy D
Meshuggah, Dick Lövgren
Metallica, Robert Trujillo

PiercingMetal Pick: To me this list begins and ends with the great Geezer Butler. As Sabbath draws ever closer to their retirement I say that the award of “Best Bassist” is far better than any gold watch.

Best Drummer
The Dillinger Escape Plan, Billy Rymer
Hellyeah, Vinnie Paul
Megadeth, Chris Adler
Meshuggah, Tomas Haake
Of Mice & Men, Valentino Arteaga

PiercingMetal Pick: His skills are superhuman and his band often defies musical description and convention. I am speaking of none other that Tomas Haake of Meshuggah. Good luck grabbing the prize for the display that you do.

Best Live Band, presented by Metal Blade Records and Black Light Media
Black Sabbath
Ghost
Hatebreed
Slipknot
Rob Zombie

PiercingMetal Pick: No disrespect to the Godfathers of Metal in Sabbath or how much I love Ghost up on the stage but I think that the best presentation during a concert is a draw for me with Zombie and Slipknot. Slipknot is a roller coaster from the moment that it begins but Zombie is a constant flurry of sights and effects that change as the night goes on. I will be tossing a quarter for this one but am leaning Zombie at the end of the day.

Most Dedicated Fans
Anthrax
Periphery
Pierce the Veil
Trivium
Volbeat

PiercingMetal Pick: Going to go Volbeat for the most dedicated fans as I’ve met so many of them over the years and groups of them have not only travelled across country for their shows but also across continents. Think about that the next time you pass on a show that is happening in New Jersey. Good luck to Denmark’s finest and their resident New Yorker Rob C. They remain one of the bands you must see in concert if you haven’t already. Trust me on this.

Best New Talent, presented by Napalm Records
Avatar
Babymetal
Nails
Stitched Up Heart
Toothgrinder

PiercingMetal Pick: While I really love what Babymetal is all about, and apply the same thoughts for Avatar; I don’t view them as “new” anymore in terms of the larger public eye so I am going to give my vote to Mixi Demner and Stitched Up Heart with this one. Good luck Mixi. 

Best Film & Video
Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, “Blood Moon”
Gojira, “Silvera”
Kvelertak, “1985”
Red Fang, “Shadows”
Slayer, “Pride in Prejudice”

PiercingMetal Pick: Gojira has been crushing skulls for years now but have only recently offered up full on headlining tours as opposed to supporting and co-headlining runs. With that being the case I want the hard work thanked by casting the ballot for their video. Good stuff.

Most Metal Athlete
Baron Corbin, WWE
Drew Stafford, NHL
Julianna Peña, UFC
Matt Brown, UFC
Robin Lehner, NHL

PiercingMetal Pick: Sadly I must admit that sports of any kind and I do not speak on a regular basis so none of these names are ringing a bell to me. I do enjoy some hockey so will give my vote to the NHL player listed up above. Being honest I generally think of these sort of categories as bunk and better spent on another worthier item. What’s next? Most Metal Actor/Actress?

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Well, I pretty much posted them up above in the choices so I don’t need to repeat myself here. What I would love for a whole bunch of you readers to do is hit that poll and then come back here and let me know your own selections because I want to knom where you all stand on this. Its kind of what I asked you to do with The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame nominees which I think you can still vote on via THIS LINK. I’m looking forward to reading your own views so do please share when time allows. I only voted once as I don’t believe in this constant voting over and over again stuff. Just my opinion. Make it so and here is the voting link once again VOTE HERE.
