Marillion Announces Remasters Of “Misplaced Childhood” & Classic Catalog

As a big fan of this album in particular, I couldn’t wait to share this news with you readers. Check it out.

The Press Release:
Following the demise of our old record company EMI, our first 8 albums were taken up by Warner Music. With our assistance, they have decided it’s time to bring those albums up to date.

The first album to get the makeover will be “Misplaced Childhood”. The package will include a 5.1 mix by Steven Wilson and a new stereo master taken from the original analog 1/2” tape. This will be used to make a new vinyl and CD version which we believe to be superior to the 1998 re-master.
There will also be a documentary video on the Blu-ray version about the making of the album featuring Marillion, producer Chris Kimsey and Fish, where we reveal some previously untold stories about the writing and recording of “Misplaced Childhood”. We hope you will enjoy revisiting this album when it’s released in July. It is available to pre-order now:

Win A Ticket For Mago De Oz @ Stage 48 On 6/10/2015

Poster - Mago De Oz at Stage 48 - 2015

The Details: For those who are not in the know, the band Mago De Oz are a fantastical experience of music from Begoña, Madrid that have been in action since their formation in 1988. They are a Spanish/Folk Metal band that has a strong Celtic vibe to their sound and they use many traditional instruments such as flutes and violins to enhance their audiences experience during concerts. Their name is the Spanish translation for “Wizard Of Oz” and according to their drummer it was chosen because “life is a yellow brick road, on which we walk in the company of others searching for our dreams.” (quote cribbed from the bands Wiki). Though I’ve not yet seen them myself I am told that their shows are unforgettable experiences and that makes me happy to offer this latest contest to our readers and Social Networking followers thanks to the marketing teams at the Stage 48 venue. Please read more below to know the scoop.

Mastodon & Clutch Announce “The Missing Link” Tour for Spring 2015

I don’t think that the larger fans who are hitting concerts these days will disagree with me about the astounding number of tours that either don’t make sense in terms of the roster or really are not giving us the best bang for the buck. Fortunately for us, this notion has been given pause as the mighty Mastodon has announced a co-headlining Spring run with Clutch and this amazing team-up will be supported by Graveyard. They’re calling this run “The Missing Link” Tour and you can check out the poster and some details below.

Tour - Mastodon - 2015

Mastodon quotes: “It was a fanboy dream to tour with poetic riffmasters Clutch back in the early 2000s, developing a meaningful kinship with these inspirational Earth Rockers!! We are truly looking forward to teaming up again for a Rock and Roll Stomp across the US with these old-time friends, the time has come!!”

“Head Like A Black Hole Sun”: Nine Inch Nails & Soundgarden To Tour – 2014

St. Patrick’s Day one loaded with revelry, band lineup dramas and tour announcements and since I had to focus my time on the lineup dramatic stuff I waited until today to get the posting about the tour announcements to you. For those who might have missed what I am talking about, it seems as though Angela Gossow has stepped down from Arch Enemy and now the band will have Alissa White-Gluz from The Agonist in her place. Alissa’s former band mates also announced her replacement and as far as one of the tours being announced, we learned that KISS and Def Leppard would hit the road for a kick ass Summer tour. Now onto the other big tour announcement as Industrial Metal legends Nine Inch Nails will pair up for a co-headlining tour with Soundgarden. I’ve copied much of the press release for you to get the best and most correct information but I will share some thoughts and more at the close. Here’s the poster.
