Today’s the day of “The Big Game” and while its a big deal to the sports fans out there I am more of a “oh is that today?” sort of person. I get more excited about the commercials and have been patiently preparing posts for our “On Screen” category as the newest trailers come to light. Some will be teasers and the first one I caught was the second trailer for the upcoming Universal Pictures film “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”. Here we go.
The Plot: A volcanic eruption threatens the remaining dinosaurs on the island of Isla Nublar, where the creatures have freely roamed for several years after the demise of an animal theme park known as Jurassic World. Claire Dearing, the former park manager, has now founded the Dinosaur Protection Group, an organization dedicated to protecting the dinosaurs. To help with her cause, Claire has recruited Owen Grady, a former dinosaur trainer who worked at the park, to prevent the extinction of the dinosaurs…again. (thanks Wiki). We really enjoyed “Jurassic World” when we saw it a couple of years ago and as expected a sequel was definitely going to happen. Just a short while ago the folks at Universal Pictures released the first trailer from the film which will be called “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”. Check it out below. I’ve also included the premise and the casting that has been revealed so far.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I generally like to hold back my thoughts on the first trailer but this one does look action packed and actually also a little sad since we are watching these remaining dinosaurs face their ultimate end. We have until the summer of 2018 to see it in the theaters and I can see myself hitting this one early on in the theatrical run. What do you readers think of this first trailer? Are you a fan of the franchise at all? Let me know down in the comments section below.
The Official Trailer for the sequel to “Pacific Rim” came to light a couple of weeks ago, but with so many television and film posts thanks to the annual NY Comic Con, I decided to wait until the smoke cleared to share it with our readership. So the sequel is called “Pacific Rim: Uprising” and you guessed it…..”They’re baaaaaack”. Check it out below and then examine the premise and some casting. Don’t worry I will toss in my opinion as well as a closer.
The Premise: It has been ten years since the Battle of the Breach and the oceans are still, but restless. Vindicated by the victory at the Breach, the Jaeger program has evolved into the most powerful global defense force in human history. The PPDC now calls upon the best and brightest to rise up and become the next generation of heroes when the Kaiju threat returns. Thrust into this is ex-Jaeger pilot Jake Pentecost, son of the late Stacker Pentecost, who is given a chance by his adopted sister, Mako Mori, to unite with the world and fellow Jaeger pilots to prevent humanity’s extinction. Having promised to serve up additional content when it comes to “On Screen” category, and most specifically for the Horror genre, I was not sure what to make of this latest trailer. It actually hit a couple of weeks ago but that is alright since the film itself doesn’t open until October and we’ve quite a bit of time to go before that is our month. This little bit of spooky weirdness is called “Happy Death Day”
