Though I didn’t happen to see them for myself, there were apparently several ice-cream trucks emblazoned with the logo of The Smashing Pumpkins parked around NYC and just a short while ago we learned why. Yes my friends, the band is hitting the road with three of its original members and you can check out the full press release and dates that hit our Music Media Command HQ in-box. Indulge.

“Some 30 years ago, as The Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha and I began a musical journey in the cramped rear bedroom of my Father’s house. And so it’s magic to me that we’re able to coalesce once more around the incredible Jimmy Chamberlin, to celebrate those songs we’ve made together,” shared Corgan.

The band broke news of the tour this morning with a dramatic video featuring original Siamese Dream album cover stars Ali Laenger and LySandra Roberts. Watch the clip

Amorphis Announce North American Tour w/Dark Tranquillity, Moonspell & Omnium Gatherum

Having missed Amorphis when they last visited our neck of the woods, I was happy to see this tour announcement that hit my mailbox in the wee hours of the morning. Let’s take a look at it.

The Press Release:
AMORPHIS announce N. American tour w/ DARK TRANQUILLITY, MOONSPELL and OMNIUM GATHERUM
Melancholic progressive metallers AMORPHIS will return to North America with a co-headlining trek with DARK TRANQUILLITY this September/October. Joining them are Portugal’s premiere gothic-metallic-force MOONSPELL, and Finnish melo-death contingent OMNIUM GATHERUM.

AMORPHIS will be touring in support of their soon to be announced new album, produced and mixed once again by Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, KATATONIA). More details to be announced shortly, so stay tuned!

Guitarist Esa Holopainen commented: “We are extremely excited to start the world tour with new album from North America. There’s been lot of requests to hit the states again after our last tour spring 2017. This time we come over with a killer package. Touring with DARK TRANQUILLITY, MOONSPELL and OMNIUM GATHERUM is almost like having a road trip with best mates around. Every band has a strong fanbase so there will be something for everyone.”

Brian Setzer Announces “Rockabilly Riot” Summer Tour 2018

The Press Release:
Ain’t nothing like the sizzling sound of rockabilly, and BRIAN SETZER always amps it up with his rockin’ style and guitar assault to leave audiences smiling. Beginning June 1 in Santa Ynez, CA, the iconic guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and three-time Grammy Award-winner will kick off his 2018 “ROCKABILLY RIOT!” Summer Tour. The U.S. dates will hit Sacramento, Napa, Austin, Tulsa, Atlanta, Charleston and Atlantic City, among other markets, before wrapping June 24 in the Boston area at the Lowell Summer Music Series Outdoors (see the full itinerary below). Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, February 16 at 10:00am, local time. View the tour trailer

Pre-sale schedule as follows:
* Fan Club Presale: Tuesday, February 13 at 10:00am local time through Friday, February 16 at 10:00am local time. Be the first to get tickets by signing up for Brian’s fan club HERE
* Local Presale: Thursday, February 15th at 10am local through 10pm local

Throughout the tour, expect a killer set list with Stray Cats gems like “Rock This Town,'” “Rumble In Brighton” and “Stray Cat Strut” plus other electrifying songs like “Let’s Shake” from his latest solo studio album Rockabilly Riot!: All Original. Opening up most evenings will be Miss Mary Ann and the Ragtime Wranglers, from the Netherlands, who recently toured with the Rockabilly Riot last year in Europe. SETZER’s red hot compadres for the “ROCKABILLY RIOT!” Summer Tour are Noah Levy on drums, Kevin McKendree on piano/guitar and Mark Winchester on bass. “When you look up rockabilly in the dictionary there is a picture of Mark Winchester,” notes SETZER. “He grew up slapping the bass and is in a class of his own. The relationship with the drummer and the bass player in rockabilly is very unique. The slap bass is a rhythmic sounding instrument, so the drummer has to be very in time with him in order not to sound sloppy. Noah Levy is a very on-the-beat solid drummer, whereas me, as a guitar player, I push everything while they hold it all in place. And when you’re talking about the great rockabilly piano players, it’s a very short list, and Kevin McKendree is on it. And he also plays guitar incredibly well. We all just complement each other.” Asked what he’d like to overhear fans saying after a gig, SETZER says: “I would love to hear, ‘You know, that Rockabilly Riot squad has all the energy and great things I like about the original rockabilly sound, yet they’re a modern band making this music sound new.”
