Artist: Madame Mayhem
Title: “My Valentine” (Single)
Label: Headball Records
Release Date: 2/10/2018
Genre: Hard Rock
Rating: 4/5

With today being Valentine’s Day, that rocker among rockers known as Madame Mayhem has delivered a tasty little ditty to help you deal with the day a little better. Now before we get down to brass tacks and indulge in this tasty treat I should share that not only is this an older track that was done by The Herself a few years ago but that its also a cover of a song by the great Sir Paul McCartney. Don’t worry, I didn’t know that information myself and before I dove into this one, I played the Paul track to see just how different or similar that it would be. The Paul original version is a slower, almost Jazz standard sort of piece while the Madame’s will hit you hard where the bouquet of roses won’t shine. Once I began the track and set the volume level to LOUD, it was very clear to me that Madame Mayhem had made the song her own.

It was almost a month ago that Judas Priest gave us the first taste from the album “Firepower” with the debut single “Lightning Strike” and with more than a month to go before the release hits the streets, the second single and the title track have been delivered. It’s a nice present from the band who sadly didn’t manage to make the final group of inductees into the “vaunted” Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Let’s set our sights, take aim and see what the track “Firepower” is all about.

If I promised that my quick summary of “Wake Up” would be my final of the single reviews for the latest album by the Black Veil Brides” then you have caught me in a little white lie. My plan was to get you a longer viewpoint of “Vale” but I’ve been running around prepping for this, that and the other thing and since there was another song unveiled as a single today I figured why not. Let’s give a quick thought about the bands sixth offering from the new album “Ballad Of The Lonely Hearts”.

“Zombie” (Single) by Bad Wolves

Artist: Bad Wolves
Title: “Zombie” (Single)
Label: Eleven Seven
Release Date: 1/19/2018
Genre: Alt-Metal
Rating: 4/5

The sudden and quite surprising dead of singer Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries hit a world of music fans hard since she was not only loved but also only 46 years of age. Her death followed that of the legendary “Fast” Eddie Clarke of the Original Motorhead and left music fans with the mindset of here we go again with the regular passing on of musical greats. Earlier today, I was tooling around in Spotify and saw that the band Bad Wolves had recorded The Cranberries seminal hit “Zombie” and since I had wanted to check them out I felt that this would be the perfect launching point for me. Let’s give their version of the classic tune a listen I said and from the moment it started I was down with it. There is a solemn beginning that might bring a slight Five Finger Death Punch vibe to your mind but its only there for a second as singer Tommy Vext showcases a sonic register across the main verse.

I guess I spoke too soon when I assumed that “The Last One” was going to be the final single from the recently released Black Veil Brides album “Vale”. The full album came out yesterday and since we haven’t gotten an official copy yet I decided to speak to this single as well. Sure I can listen to the whole thing on Spotify which is the common thing to do nowadays but with the BVB I like to see what they do with the overall packaging and in terms of photos. Here we go.
