When I shared the trailer for the latest installment in the “Underworld” series I said how I loved these films and now the day has arrived because the film “Underworld: Blood Wars” is opening today. Check out the poster, premise and some of the cast and know that I will close up with some added thoughts.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I was really psyched to see the film in the theater but I did some looking back and apparently I never saw the fourth installment of the franchise. Oh well, perhaps I can find it somewhere on one of the numerous channels or on streaming service and then catch this a little later on. It does look good and I’ve already said how I liked the first three films. Good monster fighting fun and that is all there is to it. So what about you readers? Will you be catching this one in the cinema halls or waiting until its on home video or streaming somewhere? Let me know in the comments below and please no spoilers since that isn’t very nice for those of us who plan on catching it. Remember that plenty of other film details can be learned via the official Wikipedia entry below but be advised to not open this link once the film has opened up anywhere as they become loaded with crucial plot spoilers.

Sony Pictures Presents: “Underworld: Blood Wars” Official Trailer (2017)

I’ll repeat myself with this part and say that I LOVED the “Underworld” film series and was actually only just looking into purchasing a Blu-ray set of the films for my media library. I wasn’t up to date as much as I might have liked about another installment for the franchise so that made the discovery of the trailer for the upcoming “Underworld: Blood Wars” all that much more special. Take a look at the Official Trailer and some cast and then I’ll offer up some additional thoughts.

Opening Today: “Underworld: Awakening” (1/20/2012)

Poster - Underworld Awakening - 2012

The second sequel to the “Underworld” series continues with “Underworld: Awakening” and of course it stars the deadly Kate Beckinsale as Selene, the series heroine vampire. Having enjoyed all three of the films that preceded this one, I am very excited for it. Check out this basic premise that I copied from the film’s Wikipedia page:

“Six months after the events of Underworld: Evolution, humans have captured Selene during “The Purge”, a global military crusade to exterminate vampires and lycans. Vampires have waged guerrilla warfare against the government, but the humans have overrun them, forcing survivors to hide underground and resist the humans on their own.”

Of course the entry gives out more information that would end up making this a spoiler and I cannot allow that to happen so will close it up with the casting detail and the view that to learn the rest of the story you will just have to sit in the theaters of our fair metropolis. Well, if you don’t live in NYC like we do feel free to do that same thing in your own metropolis 🙂 So who else enjoyed this overall creepy premise and is excited for the next chapter?

The Cast:
Kate Beckinsale as Selene, a Death Dealer and a Vampire-Corvinus Strain Hybrid
Michael Ealy as Detective Sebastian
India Eisley as Eve, Selene and Michael’s Hybrid daughter.
Theo James as David, Selene’s Vampire ally
Stephen Rea as Dr. Jacob Lane, a Lycan-Corvinus Strain Hybrid
Kris Holden-Ried as Quint Lane, a powerful Lycan-Corvinus Strain Hybrid
Charles Dance as Thomas, a Vampire Elder and father of David.
Sandrine Holt as Lida
Catlin Adams as Olivia
Adam Greydon Reid as Alan
Scott Speedman as Michael Corvin, a Lycan-Vampire Hybrid
Wes Bentley as Edward Vronski, an Antigen scientist (uncredited).

The other chapters in this exciting series are all available on DVD and Blu-ray disc. Here are the links to some Amazon.com purchase points should you still need to check them out.
