You can talk about Sammy live in concert as a solo artist, with Van Halen or maybe even with HSAS (bonus points if you knew that one). Stuff about his body of work and how awesome it is – just convince me about your interest in Sammy. Here are some entry guidelines.

If you are interested in seeing who these winners beat out in the competition just click over to my rundown of the nominees on THIS LINK.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So what do you think about the outcome? Were you surprised by any of it or are you outraged at some of the choices? Remember this is what the fans rallied behind, I don’t really think there is a secreted committee doing any of this like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Oh yeah and by the way, have you made your voice count on that roster of nominees? If you haven’t, you better get on it since bands like Judas Priest and The Cars are in the running and amount to two personal favorites of mine. My article about the nominees for that honor can be found on THIS LINK. Closing up let me say “congratulations to all of the winners”. Until next time.

Rock Candy Records Announces Launch Of U.S. Operation

It’s always great to see a press release like this because it speaks about some truly classic pieces of music and the companies that are aiming to get these works into your hands. I’ve known about Rock Candy Records for a few years now, but with their operating out of England it’s not always easy to get our mitts on releases for our own collection and of course to gain your interest in them with a topical review. The words below might change that so dig on in and know that I will return at the close with some additional thoughts.

ROCK CANDY RECORDS ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF U.S. OPERATION WITH 4 NEWLY AVAILABLE COMPACT DISC TITLES SET FOR RELEASE NOVEMBER 18, 2016 – ALBUM PRE-ORDERS AVAILABLE NOW FOR DELUXE DISC RE-RELEASES FROM SAMMY HAGAR, THE NYMPHS, SALTY DOG AND TYKETTO – RED DISTRIBUTION TO DISTRIBUTE ROCK CANDY RECORDS IN NORTH AMERICA

The Press Release:
The times they are a-changing, but luckily there remains one constant: great music will live forever and in the catalogue and reissue world that has never been more relevant. In the land of rock, that’s hard rock, heavy rock, classic rock or, call it what you will rock, no label has won more acclaim and earned respect than Rock Candy Records. Owned and founded by former music journalist and A&R man Derek Oliver, Rock Candy has focused on breathing life into records that deserve a place in the pantheon of rock history.

Operating out of London, England for the last eight years, the label specialises in revisiting some of the most important and significant records from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. From Ted Nugent to Rick Springfield, by way of Quiet Riot, Dokken, Billy Squier, Toto, Ratt, R.E.O. Speedwagon, L.A. Guns, Ace Frehley, Hanoi Rocks, and Kansas, the label has re-activated some of the greatest records of the last forty years, buffing them up, and re-positioning them as 24 Karat diamonds. To date, Rock Candy has re-released over 300 titles in Europe.

Van Halen’s “5150” Celebrates Its Thirtieth Anniversary (1986-2016)

In 1984, Van Halen had released an album of the same name and while this release brought their fans blockbuster hits such as “Jump”, “Panama”, “I’ll Wait and “Hot For Teacher”, the dramas going on behind the scenes were at an all-time high and creative dissonance was causing too many rifts when it came to both Eddie Van Halen and singer David Lee Roth. Roth would split from the lineup in 1985 and after some considerable searching a new voice was decided upon in Sammy Hagar and their first music together would come to us with “5150”. Today, the 7th album in the Van Halen catalog reaches its thirtieth anniversary and I’m here to share some personal reflections on this milestone.
