There is a lot to absorb here so let’s get started with the low down beneath the poster and then I’ll close it up.
The Press Release:
In addition to their recently-announced UK/EU dates this coming fall, Portland hard rockers RED FANG have announced a new Revolver Magazine, Orange Amps and Dunlop-sponsored US tour with labelmates Torche set to kick off this November. The trek will see the bands touring from coast to coast in support of their signature brands of stoner metal for a full month. Noise rockers Whores will also support; tickets will be on sale this Friday at 10 AM PST. Check out a full itinerary of dates below.
After three years of vigorously touring the world, RED FANG, the beer-loving Portland-based rock band whose new album was included in Rolling Stone’s list most anticipated 2016 releases, re-emerge with their greatest and latest full-length album, Only Ghosts. Produced by the legendary Ross Robinson (At The Drive In, The Cure, Slipknot, and many more) and mixed by Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, Melvins), Only Ghosts consists of 10 new tracks of the band’s signature, high-impact, hook-filled, hard rock. RED FANG prove once again they are top-notch songwriters who have mastered the heavy anthem without taking themselves too seriously. Only Ghosts is a rock album of incredible magnitude that demands to be played at maximum volume!

Fans of the music of the legendary Death and the memory of Chuck Schuldiner will be prepping their circle pit best as the next go round of touring was recently announced by the musical project known as “Death To All”. Yes, the Death To All Tours experience has informed us all that the “Swamp Leper Stomp ‘14” will not only bring you back to the greatest tunes from this much revered Death Metal band but also do so with support from the mighty Obituary, Massacre and Rivers Of Nihil. Whew is all I can say. Check out the poster below and then we can discuss this a little more based on the press copy that I received last night.
Press Release: DEATH (DTA Tours) has announced the Swamp Leper Stomp ’14 North American tour, a month long run with fellow death metal legends Obituary and Massacre plus up-and-comers Rivers of Nihil. A fitting tribute to the music of DEATH mastermind and extreme metal pioneer Chuck Schuldiner, the DEATH (DTA Tours) lineup consists of former DEATH members Sean Reinert (Cynic) on drums, Steve Di Giorgio (Control Denied, Autopsy, Sadus) on bass, and Bobby Koelble on guitar. Max Phelps (Cynic) who has been touring with DEATH (DTA Tours) will be once again handling the vocal and 2nd guitar duties. Title: “Tour Sampler 2014”
Label: Roadrunner Records/Relapse Records
Release Date: 2014
Genre: Heavy Metal
In honor of this titanic Metal Touring Threesome (which sounds dirtier than I anticipated), a new and very free live EP has been made available at certain shows and is anxious for the public to get their hands on it. Fans will get a track apiece from each of the bands so one from Mastodon, one from Gojira and lastly one from Kvelertak. As two of the bands are on Roadrunner Records, this issue is a shared effort with Relapse Records. As I have noted already, the tunes are live and we begin with Mastodon’s “The Curl Of The Burl” which is a crunching live number that packs a lot of groove. I’ve probably seen Mastodon about three or four times by now and while I wasn’t an early study, I got into them on the tail end of their “Leviathan” tour and was really impressed with their concert presentation. My hope is that this simply EP sparks enough interest in those fans who are for some reason or another still on the fence because this particular tour is solid from beginning to end.
