Carcass and Crowbar Announce “One Foot In The Grave Tour” For 2016

My city was abuzz with all the Primary Elections hoopla and as I compose my narrative about this exciting tour it seems as though both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton had won their respective parties in my state. While I never get political here on the site, I can say that the next few months are going to be quite interesting. Now onto the awesome task at hand which is the announcement that both Carcass and Crowbar will be touring together and bringing along Ghoul and Night Demon. Check out the poster, the full press copy and dates and count the moments until I opine on this for you a little deeper. Here we go.

Disinterred UK Metal Legends CARCASS Sign to Nuclear Blast Records!

The Press Release:
Disinterred British extreme metal legends CARCASS have signed to Nuclear Blast Records for the world excluding Japan! Surgical Steel, the band’s first studio release since their 1996 LP Swansong, was produced by Colin Richardson (NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, GOREFEST, CANNIBAL CORPSE, SINISTER, RODRIGO Y GABRIELA) and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, TESTAMENT). Joining guitarist Bill Steer and bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker in the band’s current incarnation are new drummer Dan Wilding (ABORTED, TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED) and guitarist Ben Ash (PIG IRON, DESOLATION, LIQUEFIED SKELETON). Expect some guest vocals from original sticksman Ken Owen as well, when Surgical Steel is released this Fall world-wide.

CARCASS has released the following statement regarding their new found partners in medical deviancy: “We are pleased to announce that we have found the perfect home for “Surgical Steel”, the first CARCASS album for, what, eighteen years?! We’ve inked a deal with Nuclear Blast for our new baby.

We have to thank Markus Staiger for his enthusiasm and belief in what he heard, but mostly his ability to take advantage of Jeff with a bad hangover when he visited the office in Stuttgart to let him be the first to hear the rough mixes. Nuclear Blast has managed to secure this release despite interest from all the main players in what remains of the metal ‘music industry’.

Carcass @ Nokia Theatre Times Square (9/6/2008)

Logo - Carcass

Artist: Carcass
Venue: Nokia Theater (New York, NY)
Opener: Suffocation, The Aborted, Necrophagist, 1349, Rotten Sound
Date: 9/6/2008
Label: Nuclear Blast Records

The summer still had a few weeks left to go before the fall would offer our region some much needed relief from the stifling heat that we had this particular summer season and based on this it made sense that one of the year’s hottest tickets would take place before it closed out. The killer show that I am talking about is none other than the reunion jaunt of the mighty Carcass – the absolute legends of the Grindcore scene and pretty much the reason that the whole genre came about in the first place. The hotter than Hell bill for this event was labeled as the “Exhumed To Consume” tour and not only would it feature Suffocation, 1349, The Aborted, Necrophagist and Rotten Sound as the openers but it would also come to the Big Apple hand in hand with Hurricane Hanna. Readers should know that I don’t mean some sort of female wrestler but instead a super powerful storm system that had been making the news for days before it hit us. Luckily, those who actually had tickets for the long sold out event would be safe inside the depths of the Nokia Theater in Times Square. The doors opened for the venue at around 6:30 to my knowledge but the first band would not go on for another hour. That’s a lot of time to wait around the Nokia, and with six bands in total on the bill this was looking to be a very long night of Metal. Here is how the evening went down for those who missed it.
