Hey readers its the Fourth of July weekend and that means you are going to want to get a little comic book reading done in between celebrating the greatness that is the independence of the United States of America. I’ll start with the Marvel Comics first issue offerings because we don’t have all that many to showcase for you. Here we go.
CIVIL WAR II: KINGPIN #1 (OF 4): An Inhuman with the ability to predict the future has helped the heroes of the Marvel Universe clamp down on crime before it can even happen. While this thwarts most criminals, one man has found a way to keep doing what he does best. Wilson Fisk has managed to stay one step ahead of the good guys and his crime enterprise is BOOMING. But what’s his secret?! Rising stars Matthew Rosenberg (We Can Never Go Home) and Ricardo Lopez Ortiz (Wolf) present a gritty, street-level view of CIVIL WAR II starring the Kingpin in a world without crime!
Hey there readers I’m back again with some more comic book first issues and its Marvel Comics turn with this one. Truth be told, and I am sure that I have said this on many occasions already, I am a diehard of the Marvel side of the superhero fence in terms of overall preference and damned proud to say it. Based on what is heading our way this month I might have to coin the phrase “May Is For Marvel” as not only do we get a nice crop of first issues in addition to the currently running titles but there is also a “Star Wars” focused bunch of “True Believers” titles as well. I’ll have a post going live tomorrow about those but for now check out the provided press copy and covers of this month’s Marvel first go rounds.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: STEVE ROGERS #1: He’s back! The original Sentinel of Liberty returns, with a new shield, a new team, and a new mission! And he’s not the only one who’s back! Like the saying goes– cut off one LIMB, two more will take its place! HAIL HYDRA!

THE PUNISHER #1: FRANK CASTLE LOSES CONTROL! A by-the-numbers drug bust is about to take Frank Castle by surprise…and he HATES surprises. The horrible fallout threatens to send The Punisher into the heart of darkness, but Castle won’t make that journey alone: A DEA agent is on his trail and attempting to get into his head…but what horrors will she find there, and will she survive the experience? First-time Punisher writer Becky Cloonan and quintessential Punisher artist Steve Dillon are forcing Frank Castle out of his comfort zone and taking him to the edge of the world he thought he knew!
