Way back in April of last year, I showcased the first official trailer for the upcoming Freeform series “Siren”. Click HERE if you didn’t see it or don’t remember seeing it so you are more up to speed with us. That show airs tonight on this relatively new network so check your listings for when its on or being repeated so you can check it out. I’ve repeated the casting and premise below this dramatic poster as well.
The Plot: The coastal town of Bristol Cove, known for its legend of once being home to mermaids, is turned upside down when a mysterious girl (Eline Powell) appears and begins wreaking havoc upon the small fishing town. Marine biologists Ben (Alex Roe) and Maddie (Fola Evans-Akingbola) work together to find out who and what drove this primal hunter of the deep sea to land, and are there more like her out there? While I still don’t know much about the Freeform Network, I have been hearing that a number of the Marvel shows will be making an appearance here since it is owned by their parent company Disney. Right now, the network aims towards a younger viewer and one of the shows debuting next year is called “Siren”. It’s about a mermaid whose apparently landed on our shores and here is the first trailer from the program. Let’s take a look.

Though we have quite a bit of time before this new Marvel Studios show becomes available, the first trailer for the currently in production “Cloak & Dagger” series has been released. The show will air on the Freeform Network in 2018 and you can check it out below. I’ll chime in afterwards with some thoughts.
Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, two teenagers from different backgrounds, acquire superpowers while forming a romantic relationship. They soon realize that their powers work better when they are together, “but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.” (thanks Wiki).
Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen/Dagger
Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson/Cloak
Andrea Roth as Melissa Bowen
Gloria Reuben as Adina Johnson
Miles Mussenden as Michael Johnson
Carl Lundstedt as Liam
James Saito as Bernard Sanjo
J.D. Evermore as Connors
PiercingMetal Thoughts: So what I’ve learned is that Freeform Network is a fully owned network by Disney and its aimed at the younger viewers so that must be why they chose to put this “Cloak & Dagger” show on this as opposed to say something like Netflix. Speaking frankly, I’ve liked these two characters since the first appeared in a title called “Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man” as they were rather different and super mysterious. I’ve added the character link in Wikipedia down below for you to learn more about the characters. What I love about this is the fact that this expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe even more and the trailer does look pretty good. The characters were runaways and facing some tough odds before their powers manifest and my hope is that we get some super effects, especially with Cloak and how his darkness works against the forces of evil. What do you readers think about this trailer. Let me know in the comments section below.
