As I write this, the American International Toy Fair is around the corner and some of the companies are offering up sneak peeks at the lines being debuted at this massive trade only event. I’ve featured the Hasbro Toys action figures from their “Marvel Legends” series on numerous occasions so I was happy to see some advance reveals for the “Venom” and “Deadpool” series. As you know, each of these characters will be featured in film this year and I can hardly wait. Let’s take a look.
I’ll start of with what was revealed from the “Venom” line. In this we get a couple of the 6″ action figures that are a part of the “Marvel Legends Series” and two of the larger figures.
The other day we got another teaser clip from the 2018 opening “Deadpool 2” film and while it pays homage to the late great Bob Ross and his painting show the best is left to the viewing of the clip itself so do please take a look.
Per The YouTube Video Page: After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Alrighty then, I am pretty sure that “Deadpool 2” is not about that at all. Also, I am starting to think that I will have my hands full with clips like this one when it comes to the “Deadpool 2” film. They are really upping the level of ridiculousness and honestly that is fine by me. Recently, some readers had been wondering why there has been such an uptick in content such as this and the answer is simple – With so many superhero themed movies and our regular attendance at the NY Comic Con and related conventions, it makes sense to keep these things flowing. Don’t worry there is something here for everyone. That being said this was a fun clip for what I am sure will be a movie that will leave us in stitches. I cannot wait for the next revelation from their side of the fence. What did you readers think about this one? Let me know down in the comments below.
Here now is an item from our absolutely weird and ridiculous file. It seems as though “The Merc with a Mouth” Deadpool is gracing the Holiday Special issue of the Good Housekeeping magazine. I found myself a copy in the local comic book store and made sure to snap it up to make sure that I wasn’t imagining things. Now since I know that everyone will NOT be able to find this interesting little oddity, I’ve embedded some links down below along with the Editorial Viewpoint from the magazine about this historic appearance. Scroll on down below to see it all.
From The GH Editor In Chief Desk: “Deadpool’s persistence to be in Good Housekeeping was impressive — initially we had no idea who he was, let alone that he was a fan of the magazine. But after repeated attempts to ignore his… passion… we came to a compromise. He could appear in one issue, if he promised to stop leaving care packages at our editors’ homes and agreed to maintain a 50-foot distance from the Good Housekeeping offices and our staff.” Continue reading Dig It; Deadpool Makes The Cover Of “Good Housekeeping”→
Back in May I shared the news about a convention known as HASCON (if you missed that item, just click HERE to be up to speed). So the reason I’m posting this is to let you know that for a limited time you can get this special X-Force version of Deadpool from the Hasbro store. Let’s take a look at him both in and out of the package using their official photos. Chimichanga time!!!!
Several days ago, actor Ryan Reynolds tweeted out an image of the character “Domino” from the upcoming feature “Deadpool 2”. I don’t think that I have to say that its he who plays Wade Wilson/Deadpool in the Marvel Comics property that was released by 20th Century Fox a couple of years ago do I? If I do, he is. Let’s have a look at her. The photo made me laugh as its using the same premise that Reynolds did for the first “Deadpool” film but the rug was a bearskin one like an old Burt Reynolds photo. She is going to be played by Zazie Beetz.
So my rationale for waiting on this was based on the assumption that if we were getting Domino that we would also be getting Cable and lo and behold, he recently shared the visual of Josh Brolin in his full Cable garb. Brolin also portrays Thanos over in the MCU in case you didn’t know.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: I must admit that while I like how Cable looks I am not too crazy about the Domino look since its so drastically different from the comics series. They also have opted to swap races on the character like we found them doing with The Human Torch in the absolutely dreadful “Fantastic Four” movie of 2015. At the risk of sounding closed-minded, I just like the characters being what I recall them on the page and with Domino not even looking like the character I am not sure what to say. Let’s hope for the best. I am glad that Cable is making his appearance here because that means X-Force cannot be far behind in terms of X-Men properties that Fox controls and releases. I know many readers are hoping for a collaboration between the studios like we found happening with Sony and “Spider-Man Homecoming” but with X-Men I want no such thing. I want a return of the properties to the House Of Mouse in an all under the same roof scenario. What about you readers? What do you think of these characters looks?
