Sure a few thousand lucky fans got to see “Black Panther” last night and during the exclusive industry previews but for the rest of the world the film opens TODAY in theaters everywhere and I couldn’t be more happy about it. Those watching the continuing and building adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe first saw the Black Panther in “Captain America: Civil War” and since those scenes they have been clamoring for his solo feature. Let’s remind of the casting and light premise after the Official Theatrical Poster below.
Premise: After the events of Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to Wakanda but soon finds his sovereignty challenged by factions within his own country. When two enemies conspire to bring down the kingdom, T’Challa must team up, as the Black Panther, with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje—Wakanda’s special forces—to prevent a world war. (thanks Wiki). Continue reading Opening: “Black Panther” in Theaters Everywhere (2/16/2018)→

For many years, “The Incredible Hulk” was one of my very favorite Marvel Comics titles to read and this might have been helped by the Lou Ferrigno television show but I digress. This February Marvel celebrates the Jade Giant with a series of variant covers. I’ve shared the ones that were released to press for you below along with the brief statement about them. Check it out.

As the excitement gets more amped up for the upcoming “Black Panther” film, it was not a surprise to learn that Marvel Comics would be releasing a special free issue in honor of the film. Check out the recently released press details and images. I’ll return at the close as I usually do.
The Press Release:
Just in time for the leader of Wakanda to stage center stage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel is excited to announce the release of BLACK PANTHER – START HERE, a FREE sampler celebrating Black Panther stories across the Marvel Universe. Featuring excerpts from Marvel’s current Black Panther ongoing series, as well as World of Wakanda, Black Panther and the Crew, and portions from Reginald Hudlin and John Romita Jr.’s Black Panther run, BLACK PANTHER – START HERE serves to introduce brand new readers to the character’s expansive 50-year Marvel history, while long-time fans will be able to relive some of T’Challa’s most epic adventures. THE FREE BLACK PANTHER – START HERE sampler will be available to retailers on January 31st in local comic shops!
PiercingMetal Thoughts: One of the main things that I enjoy about all of our comic book posts is the chance to direct you to the one-dollar comics and the various freebie issues that are hitting the racks on a semi-regular basis. Adding the great Black Panther to the mix of these free offerings is simply awesome. Remember that you’re not going to find this at any old location and you must go to your local comic shop retailer and hope that they will be participating in the freebie offering. I’m sure that most retailers will have it and you have time to ask around since it will be available at the end of the month. When you get your copy be sure to give back some thanks to the retailer by purchasing a couple of other titles or perhaps even some bags and backing boards. Are you excited for the “Black Panther” movie and the freebie issue? Let me know down in the comments section below. Till next time.
