Wow, talk about a team-up of epic Metal proportions. This is surely some exciting news as Arch Enemy and Trivium will share the stages of North America this fall and decimate for sure. The full press release, poster and dates are below but don’t worry I will return with some closing editorial notes. That’s how we roll over here after all.
The Press Release:
ARCH ENEMY and TRIVIUM are excited to announce plans for a co-headlining tour across North America later this Fall. Featuring support from English metalcore outfit While She Sleeps and New Jersey deathcore act Fit For An Autopsy, the tour will kick off on October 27 in Orlando, FL and make its way across the U.S. and Canada before finishing on December 6 in Houston, TX.
Founding ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott exclaimed, “Very much looking forward to returning to North America with this tour! We are aware that it has been long overdue and we appreciate everyone’s patience while we’ve been creating our new “Will To Power” album. This run will be like a family reunion with our old friends in Trivium; together we’ll be crushing city after city with the power of Heavy Metal! Good times ahead, don’t miss the fun!”
TRIVIUM further stated, “We’ve been joining forces with Arch Enemy for over a decade now. From Ozzfest 2005, through arenas across the U.K., Europe, and Australia on The Black Crusade. This next chapter is going to be one for the ages: Trivium, Arch Enemy, While She Sleeps, and Fit for an Autopsy!! DO NOT MISS THIS!!”

Back when the news was announced on St. Patrick’s Day that longtime singer Angela Gossow had stepped down from Arch Enemy and named her successor as being Alissa White-Gluz of The Agonist a lot of the rumblings from the fans could be heard. Some were good and some not too much and now that the single “War Eternal” from the bands album of the same name is available for purchase I figured I would toss some thoughts together about track and give you a purchase link. Here we go.
The tune starts off with a strong melodic riffing that finds you getting charged up and even getting a little bit of the head banging started before Alissa comes in with the first verse. There is a superb pattern of double bass being delivered by Erlandsson and as a former skin basher I just like how this “felt” to my Metal ears. Now those who have seen The Agonist or ever heard their music before already know that Alissa is a growler, but one who has the luxury of a soaring clean register to her vocal skills as well. For this tune she sticks with the growling and quickly appears to be in command of the tune as she rallies the forces of the band with her. I liked it and wondered if there would be at least a few “clean notes” to be found here but we don’t get them. The chorus sounded powerful to me and after playing it back a couple of times I felt that it might be a great live song and envisioned the Metal masses raising their fists and singing along with her. The guitar solo from Michael Amott worked well but I expected as much since he is the guiding composing force in the group and I am sure those shredders out there will not be disappointed. For me this works overall and I am excited about the possibilities for the band going forward and to hear the full on release in a little over a month. I plan on a deeper examination when my media download link hits the mailbox so stay tuned.
