The Trans-Siberian Orchestra Winter 2015 Tour Dates Are Here

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra has unveiled their Winter 2015 Tour Dates and considering there are two respective companies to the enterprise along with an afternoon and evening performance there are a LOT of them to choose from depending on your location. The graphic below gives you some insight as to this year’s spectacle and then I’ll speak about it a little more.

Photo - TSO - Tour 2015

The tour premise this year is “The Ghosts Of Christmas Eve” and for those who are unaware of this aspect of the TSO, this was a television special that aired just around the release time of “The Christmas Attic” and features music from that album along with the eventual classics on “Christmas Eve and Other Stories”. The show featured Ossie Davis and a young Allie Sheridan who eventually became one of the backing singers in the touring company. It was a charming film for sure and its now on DVD for all to enjoy but better yet, this time we get to see its magic right up in front of our faces as this and other TSO classics are performed with perfection. I’m keeping this part brief since the tour dates will continue on for a time and believe me my fingers still hurt from the editing  Please make a note if you are in our own Creative Command HQ vicinity that there is NO show at Nassau Coliseum this year as that arena has closed but according to reports will return in a few years. That means the Prudential Center show in Newark are your only chances. Hey next time around Barclays Center in Brooklyn alright? It will rock, okay here we go.

New Year’s Music Resolutions For 2013: Part 3

Good morning to you dear readers of the PiercingMetal Blog, and welcome to our titanic third chapter in the “New Year’s Music Resolutions for 2013”. They say that the third time is the charm and I am good with that so let’s get right on down to business shall we. Proceed with interest more than any level of caution.

1. Keith Williams (Schism): My New Year’s Metolution: Be kind, be supportive, be happy, thankful, gracious & grateful…see more shows, perform better quality shows at quality venues, try and get paid what we’re worth perhaps?

2. David Ellefson (Megadeth): Play harder, play better!

3. Sam Roon (Hung): Thanks for including HUNG in this year’s festivities on Piercing Metal!!! I think for 2013 the entire Metal scene has a lot of work to do. The music industry has recognized the lack of support from the fans, and Ken, as someone who goes to every show in New York City, I’m sure you know all about the dwindling headcount. For 2013 my music resolution… or moreover, my musical mission, is to devote as much time as I possibly can to getting Metal in New York City back to the support strength that people from outside the area perceive us to have. It’s our responsibility to keep our scene alive, support the local bands around us, and to keep going to shows. Be a part of what’s happening. Twenty years from now when you look back at New York City at the time where you were a part of what was going on, you know you’ll want to be proud to have been a part of something. You were a part of a movement… a unique moment in time. The only way to achieve that feeling is to invest a little effort now, and THAT my friend, is my musical resolution for 2013. Thanks again for including HUNG and supporting the area Metal scene Ken. PiercingMetal has always been kind to the locals, and we respect you for it! For the readers, keep supporting this site and going to the shows in the calendar! Look for a new HUNG record early next year and SUPPORT LOCAL METAL!!! Happy fucking new year.

Hot Sh*t All-Stars @ Arlene’s Grocery (3/11/2008)

The Hot Sh*t All-Stars are an interesting side project of Blues-Rock singer Jimmy Kunes, bassist Greg Smith, guitarist Angus Clark and keyboardist Paul Morris. They perform Deep Purple covers and this evening we would catch them delivering that classic album from the band “Burn”. The show took place at Arlene’s Grocery and should you want to learn more just scroll down a little bit.

Artist: Hot Sh*t All-Stars
Venue: Arlene’s Grocery (New York, NY)
Opener: Megan McCauley
Date: 3/11/2008
Label: Independent Artist

After catching a couple of interesting shows done by Grave Digger and Wednesday 13 over the last few weeks I felt that I would change the normal way of doing things by hitting an appearance that Jimmy Kunes would be doing over at Arlene’s Grocery this evening. Kunes is known to many as being the blues-based soulful vocals of the reunited Cactus, a band that was referred to as the American Led Zeppelin and one of the earliest super groups based on their featuring the talents of Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice. We’ve covered the bands appearances and recent releases to some extent on PiercingMetal.com so feel free to search around for them at your convenience. Tonight’s gig would find Jimmy fronting a group he called “The Hot Sh*t All-Stars” and it was a super group in its own right based on its membership. On guitar would be Angus Clark (from Trans-Siberian Orchestra West Coast), Greg Smith on bass (Joe Lynn Turner, Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, Ted Nugent and far too many more to mention in this space), and Paul Morris on keyboards (Doro Pesch, Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, Chris Caffery). Sadly I would not catch the drummer’s name and for that I apologize.
