Every now and again we try to lay down some support for a tour that might not be 100% Metal or Heavy Rock and with that being the case here is the latest from the people handling the touring information for Blues Traveler. The full press release, poster and dates are below for your edification. Check it out. I’ll come back at the close. I promise.

Frontman John Popper states, “Three decades… three decades and I am still surprised when we play and find some rich new musical vein to tap. Three decades and I cannot believe my luck with this band of brothers and this string we have run! Thirty years since a bunch of loud boys embarked on an adventure that took them around the world and made them a family that has not ceased growing to this day. Thirty years later and I am still so very grateful.”

The news about the 30th Anniversary Tour by the crushing Metal power of Sepultura was making the rounds late yesterday via the official channels so I apologize for getting that to you a little afterward. I had another post in queue already so it comes to you now with the label press copy and image along with some liner notes from me about it. Continue along and then let’s discuss.
The Press Release:
Do legacies ever fade? Not when Brazilian blood is involved.
Celebrating their 30th year of existence, Brazil’s most esteemed metal band SEPULTURA will be headlining a Metal Injection-sponsored tour that includes German thrashers DESTRUCTION as direct support and American melodic tech-deathsters ARSIS as openers. We can already sense the frenzy in mosh pits across the U.S. and Canada, too. “It’s going to be an amazing experience to celebrate a 30-year career with the strongest album we’ve ever made in our history,” states SEPULTURA guitarist & songwriter Andreas Kisser about the upcoming 33-show trek and their latest album, The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart. “We are coming back to America and Canada with full force and with a hunger to destroy everything! Can’t wait to perform the songs from the new album on stage! See you all on the road!” The mayhem begins in Phoenix, Arizona on May 10th and ends on June 14th in Grand Junction, Colorado. SEPULTURA will be performing one solo show on May 9th.

The Scoop: The Metal Republic of NYC might have only recently got a crushing show by Doro Pesch back in 2013 but that does not mean that The Big Apple Metalheads don’t welcome her back with open arms each time that she honors us with her presence. This year marks the one true Metal Queen’s 30th Anniversary of touring and she is calling this short run of US Regional Dates her “Strong and Proud” tour. I mentioned once before that I had enjoyed the music of Doro since she was in Warlock, and have continually been impressed by her genuine positivity towards her loyal fans as she delivers the goods on the stage like few others even dare attempt. It’s without a doubt that when you go to a Doro show, you are entertained and left screaming for more. Her show in NYC is bound to be a special one as she is pulling out the stops by bringing special guests to the stage with her. I am speaking of Bobby Blitz (Overkill), Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans Siberian Orchestra), Jeff Waters (Annihilator), Leather Leone, Jean Bouvoir (Plasmatics, Crown Of Thorns) and most recently announced Veronica Freeman (Benedictum). Supporting the show will be The Mighty Swine and three talented local bands. This is surely going to be a night to remember for a very long time. That being said, I am super excited to announce that thanks to the folks at Livenation, PiercingMetal.com is going to send some of you to the show for free. Read on.
When & Where: Monday, October 20th, 7pm @ Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd Street NYC).

Artist: Michael Schenker Group
Venue: Irving Plaza (New York, NY)
Opener: Lynch Mob, Sister Sin
Label: Independent Artist
July had been a very excellent month for concerts so far but today the buzz across the Metal Republic was all intensely focused on the wedding of Chelsea Clinton………oh wait, I’m mistaken since none of us gave a rats ass about that stuff and instead we were all preparing ourselves for the return of the one and only Michael Schenker Group. MSG had performed over at The Gramercy Theatre last year and this killer show found a revitalized Michael Schenker which was a great treat as the musician had been dealing with “issues” for a couple of years prior to it. Now back on top of his game he continues to tour with singer Gary Barden at the microphone. This tour would continue to showcase the talents of guitarist/keyboardist Wayne Findlay as well and bring along the surprise new bass work of Elliot Dean and legendary drummer Carmine Appice. The tour also gave us two opening bands with Sister Sin and Lynch Mob. Here is how the hot night in NYC went down for those who were foolish enough to pass it by.
