Formed in 1986, Sacred Reich is part of the second wave of thrash, along with Testament, Death Angel, Destruction and Dark Angel. Over the years, Sacred Reich has produced a catalog of politically charged aggressive music that has stood the test of time. Heralded as the most underrated band from the New Wave of American Heavy Metal Movement, Byzantine recently launched a PledgeMusic campaign for The Cicada Tree, with every “pledge”/purchase receiving a digital download of the tracks, plus exclusive content. To reserve your copy of the album (with 2 cover songs by Fishbone and the Cars), signed material from the band, apparel, and more, please visit: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/byzantine2017

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I must admit that I wasn’t following Sacred Reich back in the early days because my own Thrash Metal interests was pretty locked into the first wave of bands and I was kind of busy in my own group. Then I got into the Power Metal stuff and that really swayed me from thrashing like a maniac (pardon the applicable Metallica reference). I do enjoy a lot of what Byzantine is about and highly recommend them to the unschooled listeners who might be reading this. I’d surely be interested in checking out the tour when it stops in NYC since it’s making the Gramercy Theatre one of the venues and I am always there. What about you readers? Are you big fans of Sacred Reich and are you looking forward to the tour? Let me know what you think about this one down in the comments section below.
