A little over a month ago, I shined the spotlight on the re-imagining of the classic series “Lost In Space” which will be getting a streaming run on Netflix. If you missed that post it’s alright as you can click HERE to review it. That show is now 100% available for streaming and can be viewed to your binging delight. Let’s take a look at the official poster, premise and casting as well.
In the year 2046, the Robinson family and the spaceship Jupiter 2, one of several Jupiter ships, encounters a rip in spacetime and crashes on an unknown planet. By now you’ve seen the promotional clips for the film “Rampage” which comes care of Warner Brothers Pictures and opens today in theaters everywhere. Let’s give a glance to the official poster, premise and casting to start you off right in determining if you want to check this one out.
The Plot: Primatologist Davis Okoye (Dwayne Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, albino silverback gorilla who has been in his care most of its life. But a mysterious genetic experiment mutates this once gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered that a wolf (Ralph) and crocodile (Lizzie) have gone under similar changes. As these newly created apex predators battle each other for supremacy and tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer (Naomie Harris) to secure an antidote, fight his way through the ever-changing battlefield, and not only to halt a global catastrophe, but to save the fearsome beast that was once his friend. In 2018, we will all have another reason to be afraid to go into the water thanks to “The Meg” which is short for “Megalodon” which means giant frigging Great White Shark. I’ve had interest in reading the novel that this film is based on and the first trailer for the upcoming Warner Brother Pictures release is presented below for your perusal.
The Premise: After escaping an attack by what he claims was by a 70-foot shark, Jonas Taylor must confront his fears to save those trapped in a sunken submersible (c/o IMDB).
Jason Statham as Jonas Taylor
Li Bingbing as Suyin Zhang
Rainn Wilson as Jack Morris
Ruby Rose as Jaxx Herd
Winston Chao as Dr. Minway Zhang
Cliff Curtis as James “Mac” Mackreides
Page Kennedy as DJ
Jessica McNamee as Celeste
Olafur Darri Olafsson as The Wall
Robert Taylor as Dr. Heller
Shuya Sophia Cai as Meiying
Masi Oka as Toshi
Rob Kipa-Williams as D’Angelo
Tawanda Manyimo as Marks
PiercingMetal Thoughts: I loved this trailer and felt that it brings back some of the monster shark craze that hit when “Jaws” was release so many years ago. I read that book long before I saw it in the movies and even the book had me off water for awhile. Of course this fear didn’t apply to the bathtub despite my youthful insistence and parents, I fear we might find this sort of behavior resurfacing thanks to “The Meg”. Personally speaking, I love giant monster films and since Megalodon is an ancient predator he falls into that category when it comes to this film. I’m also a Jason Statham fan so look forward to seeing this one. What did you think of the trailer? Let me know down in the comments section below and to close out I’ve shared from teaser posters.
