Rating: 4/5

My first recollection of hearing Rachel Lorin sing was when Stryper performed at the venerated B.B. King Blues Club and she joined former TNT singer Tony Harnell for a few numbers. Fans at the show were floored by the sonic register that the striking beauty possessed and it really upped the game of the night in terms of musical treats. Now Ms. Lorin is tossing her hat into the Hard Rock ring on her own with solid material that will quickly have you rallying for her cause. The first official tune from her eventually coming album is called “I Hate You”.

The song starts off slow with a paired singing of Rachel and one of her male band mates so I will assume it’s either Angelo Fariello or Jaster Aleon and with this has a slight vibe of what Evanescence was so good at doing. Rachel of course is the dominating voice on the tune and belts out the notes with a powerful and commanding register. The rhythm is solid in the background and there is a great lead guitar break. I found myself humming along after only a couple of listens but of course I had the luxury of seeing Ms. Lorin in concert a few times. Just a hint on that, she also kicks ass in the live sense so this is not all studio magic. I’m very excited for the full album whenever it is scheduled to arrive. The tune will cost you a mere $.99 and in a world where a cup of coffee is five times that price you can certainly afford to give something new and loaded with possibilities a chance. Check it out.
