Lucasfilm Presents: “Solo: A Star Wars Story” (2018) “Big Game” Spot

We’ve mentioned that while today is the day of “The Big Game” that are main interest is that of the commercials and the trailers from the movies that we generally steer towards and document here on the website for our fellow geeks. This next teaser hit not a long while ago and the last I heard it was not supposed to surface but I am glad it did. Presenting “Solo: A Star Wars Story”. Here we go.

The Premise: A space Western, the film is centered on a young Han Solo and his adventures with his Wookiee partner Chewbacca, including their encounter with Lando Calrissian.

The Cast/Characters:
Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo
Woody Harrelson as Beckett
Emilia Clarke as Kira
Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian

Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca
Paul Bettany as an undisclosed character
Jon Kasdan as Tag Greenley
Toby Hefferman as Bink Otauna

PiercingMetal Thoughts: As you know I hold back on commentary about the teaser trailers and since the “Big Game” spot was only a minute long that applies here as well. They’ve noted that a longer trailer comes tomorrow so let’s stay tuned. I’ll be sharing that one for sure and then chiming in deeper about it. This looked promising but let’s wait until the full on trailer for our commentary. Stay tuned for that.

Universal Pictures “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” Official Trailer #2

Today’s the day of “The Big Game” and while its a big deal to the sports fans out there I am more of a “oh is that today?” sort of person. I get more excited about the commercials and have been patiently preparing posts for our “On Screen” category as the newest trailers come to light. Some will be teasers and the first one I caught was the second trailer for the upcoming Universal Pictures film “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”. Here we go.

The Plot: A volcanic eruption threatens the remaining dinosaurs on the island of Isla Nublar, where the creatures have freely roamed for several years after the demise of an animal theme park known as Jurassic World. Claire Dearing, the former park manager, has now founded the Dinosaur Protection Group, an organization dedicated to protecting the dinosaurs. To help with her cause, Claire has recruited Owen Grady, a former dinosaur trainer who worked at the park, to prevent the extinction of the dinosaurs…again. (thanks Wiki).

As you readers are fully aware by now, we just love sharing the exciting trailers for all of the superhero films that keep on being released as this stuff works very well with our regular comic book posts. We’re also tremendous fans and especially of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With that said please check out the Teaser Trailer for the upcoming “Ant-Man and The Wasp” film which was unveiled only a short time ago. I’ve followed the clip with premise and casting and will chime in briefly at the close.

The Premise:
Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang tries to balance his home life as a father with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, when Hope van Dyne and Hank Pym present him with a new mission to bring to light secrets from their past, requiring him to team up with van Dyne as the new Wasp.

Back in August of 2017, I shared the trailer for the upcoming Anime series “Godzilla: Planet Of The Monsters” and if you missed that post just click HERE to catch up to the flow of things. The series was a collaboration between Toho Studios and Paragon Pictures and now after a successful run in his native Japan, “Godzilla: Planet Of The Monsters” is available for streaming in full on the Netflix service. Here’s the official poster and some reminder of the premise, and the cast. Take a look.

Tonight: “Black Lightning” On The CW Network (1/16/2018)

The Premise: Jefferson Pierce, who retired from his superhero persona Black Lightning nine years ago after seeing the effects it had on his family, is forced to become a hero again when the rise of the local gang The One Hundred leads to increased crime and corruption in his community. (thanks Wiki).

The Cast/Characters:
Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning
China Anne McClain as Jennifer Pierce
Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce
Christine Adams as Lynn Pierce
James Remar as Peter Gambi
Damon Gupton as Henderson
Marvin “Krondon” Jones III as Tobias Whale
Kyanna Simone Simpson as Kiesha
Edwina Findley as Tori Whale
Chantal Thuy as Grace Choi
Jill Scott as Lady Eve

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I remember reading the original “Black Lightning” comic series and liking it and developing even more affinity for the character when he joined Batman’s “The Outsiders”. It will be very interesting to see how they bring this character to life on his program which amounts to the fifth DC Superhero show airing on The CW Network. “I Zombie” while a DC show, is NOT connected to the Arrowverse and apparently neither is BL which I think is a mistake. Hopefully they rethink that and give us some crossover stuff with the character. So what about you folks? Will you be tuning in tonight on The CW? Chime in down in the comments section below.
