It’s always great to find out that Alter Bridge is heading out on a tour of their own since we don’t have that happen as often as the diehards might like. Anyway, I will let the press release below do all the talking. Check it out. I’ll come back at the close.
The Press Release:
Hard rock titans Alter Bridge will embark on their first headline tour of 2017 across North America beginning on January 21st in Mobile, AL. The Last Hero Tour will make stops in cities across the country such as Chicago, IL, Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY and Las Vegas, NV before wrapping up in Seattle, WA. Artist presale tickets are currently on sale. Tickets and VIP Packages will be available publicly on Friday at 10:00AM local time and can be purchased at the website link at the bottom.
The Last Hero, marks a return to the Top 10 on the Billboard charts for Alter Bridge in the United States; their first since their debut release, 2004’s One Day Remains. The band peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 with over 27,800 units consumed via sales and streaming. The band also hit #4 on the Top Current Albums chart selling almost 27,000 (26,955 sold), landed at #2 on the Rock Chart and the band’s first-ever #1 album on the Independent Albums Chart. The Last Hero topped charts around the globe as well landing at #6 in Australia, #5 in Germany, #8 in Italy, #2 in Scotland, and #3 in the United Kingdom.
Alter Bridge burst onto the music scene in 2004 with the release of their gold-selling debut, One Day Remains. In 2007, the band released Blackbird, the album that elevated the band’s profile worldwide. The epic solo in the title track “Blackbird” was voted “Greatest Guitar Solo Of All Time” by Guitarist Magazine. ABIII was released in 2010 and the single “Isolation” gave the band their first #1 single. In 2013, the band reached an elevated creative and critical plateau with Fortress. It bowed at #12 on the Billboard Top 200, moving over 30,000 copies first-week and earning unanimous tastemaker praise. The record garnered perfect scores from Total Guitar and KERRANG! as well as acclaim from Billboard, The Guardian, Loudwire, Ultimate Guitar, and many more. In between sold out tours in Europe and North America, the guys appeared on VH1 and graced the cover of Classic Rock Magazine who labeled Fortress, “The best thing they’ve ever done,” while Eddie Trunk called it, “A top 10 album of the last 10 years.” Alter Bridge has appeared on The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live and their music has been used by the WWE, Major League Baseball and NASCAR to name a few.
Alter Bridge is Myles Kennedy on vocals/guitars, Mark Tremonti on guitars/vocals, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve mentioned that we DON’T see this happening as often as we’d like and I guess we should thank the musical powers that be that Guns N Roses are doing so many tour dates since that keeps Slash busy. With Slash being busy, Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy can focus on this band and the wealth of material that he has written with Mark Tremonti. Having caught the group on a few occasions over the years I can honestly tell you that you MUST see this band in concert. It’s really something else and they deliver on all counts. At the point of this writing there haven’t been any opening acts announced but when they do I will add them onto the narrative and update the artwork for the tour. So tell me what you think of this new tour and if you will go. You can do that right down below in the comments section.
Update: 11/29/2016 – The band Nonpoint has been announced as the direct support for this tour. That should be interesting for sure and since I have never before seen them so if I can work it out I will be there at the venue early enough to lend some support. Oh yeah the new poster is up above as well. I try to be effective for your entertainment interest.
